Re: Firepro M5950 GPU does not idle = poor battery life
You know that a temporary fix is to just install Sapphire TriXX and just force downclock the GPU to 100/150 when you need it to run non-GPU essential tasks on the battery.

Re: Firepro M5950 GPU does not idle = poor battery life
tried it , it will not work to lower than 250/400 if my memory is right.
also no change in voltage downclocking.
my only fix is to disable power play. it works as gaming is not a priority just a diversion but no it is just extra trouble which should not happen at all in the beginning! deeeeeeeeeeeeeell!

Re: Firepro M5950 GPU does not idle = poor battery life
this issue would be really annoying me if i hadnt bought an ultraportable for carrying around. but reading other people posting about how their M4600 with the quadro and optimus gets 8 hour battery life is very very frustrating

I also find this very disturbing and experience the same sort of issues with my M4600. Sigh.

Re: Firepro M5950 GPU does not idle = poor battery life
Hey sufferers of this horrible bug, i found the cause! it is either the m4600 lcd panel conflicting with m5950 video out problem. it could also be dell power-saving plans problem!
test this : open catalyst control, go desktop properties, setting, refresh rate -> change default 60hz to 40hz! bang! no powerplay bug! works perfecto!
OR
test this : plug the hdmi out to your full hd lcd tv, disable the dell lcd, video out only to your hdtv, bang! no powerplay bug either!
both solutions cannot serve me well, because 40hz refresh rate is too slow on my eyes...so dell mano engineers please get to work after this discovery!
