Does anyone have a problem with their keyboard on the M6600 suddenly not working? The mouse still works fine which allows me to restart but I can't type anything. Once I restart it is all back to normal. It has happened twice in the last few days and the only change I have made was to update the Nvidia driver to the latest. Thanks.

The pen included has 256 levels of pressure and you can buy others from N-Trig. This is not a crap digitizer.

Windows 8 is also making the touchscreen seem like a very nice option.

Yeah - thinking about that, could anyone tell me if the touchscreen

    a) screws up the screen at all? Taking the X220 as an example, the T, despite having the same screen as the stock X220, appears from what I've read to be noticeably dimmer / grainier.
    b) disables Optimus
    c) would impact runtime? If so, how much are we talking about?

You can use Optimus with the touch screen. Only the IPS screen throws a wrench in here, because of the 10-bit color.

I don't have one, but I don't think that the touch screen would have any more than a minimal effect on runtime (that digitizer has to use some power though...).

plus do you experience a cursor jitter or wobble when using the stylus If you could open try scrolling slowly on the right side of an internet window and see if the page jumps around or hold the pen still near the edge or even near the center tha would be great

I have a wacom cintiq and am very disappointed with the inaccuracy because of cursor wobble this is very prevalent in many models and wacom has no fix for this issue for the past 5 plus years or more

They claim its because of electrical interference so do you know exactly how the dell stylus communicates with the comp is it a certain frequency because the wacom pen has no battery so thats different and I have been very interested in the m6600 touch but after this wacom fiasco I have reservations about weather it will work for me plus I am guessin you dont use the stylus much but if someone who uses it often could chime in i was wondering if persistent stylus use will cause scratches also common on some wacom models
Hard to gauge 1-10. As long as your screen brightness is high enough to overcome the screen reflection glare then it will be good enough. e.g. soft tone flourescent lights in office with minimum hot-spots. Up-lights lamps that shine up to a surface then down to the room, is best.

Yeah. I get the jitter when I tried it. So it's in the drawer now.

It will cause very minimal wear of the screen if used with a hard-tip stylus. That is why I am thinking of the ipad stylus with the soft rubber tips. At least I can avoid the fingerprints smudges.

Hmm, so the m6600 t-screen is a 256 level ? Assume the sensativity is auto-set by drivers and no way of tuning it ?

    Hi Sarge,

still a little unsure, perhaps I should explain my expected useage Bascially I have no interest in the touchscreen for any digitiser/pen/drawing usage - I would only want it for the Windows8 "press, swipe and play" type stuff.

you mention it is inaccurate? is that pen related or when using finger as well. I have no issue cleaning fingerprints off every so often.

    Cheers

Go for the Intel 520 Series. You get the piece of mind. Without having to worry about showstopper bugs & out of the blue SSD (Solid State Death).

Not recommended if you have msata 128 + 256GB SSD Sata3 6gbps as RAID-0. You may get more errors, on a bad day with bad apps, you SSDs controllers will work un-unecessary harder to sync write errors. RAID-5 is alright.

    (1) Pen related inaccuracy, the buttons on it is a little hard to control ended up most of the time, I will be looking at where to press instead of my work

    and

    (2) on the touch screen (I need the precision different from art-art), unless it's artistic artwork in photoshop, then it can still have better tolerance on the inaccuracy. I do play around with vector arts for fun, with that also i find it not that good and a wacom or a high precision mouse is even better combined with arrorw key strokes.

    (3) YES. It's good for windows app controls, big selection areas, Powerpoints and word. It's the smudges of fingerprints that mainly stops me from using the (3). Something like Minority Report (movie) app controls would be ideal with a wireless glove.

Hi sargent75, thanks for the msata ssd info. I wouldn't be going for any kind of raid, just thinking of a 128gb msata ssd then 2 750gb hdd's for media etc. Just wasn't sure what the msata speeds are like compared to other ssd's. Thanks!
