Re: M6600 Owners Thread
Ouch. Feeling kinda burned... I wish I knew this before my M4600 purchase, as it makes my extra $370 spent seem much less exciting. As someone else said, I hope this can be changed in a future BIOS release, but I fear that may not be the case. Perhaps can you offer an explanation as to why IPS and Optimus can't coexist?
My disappointment aside, I would like to thank you, havoctex, for all the useful information these past weeks/months. I'm glad that Dell allows (or even encourages?) you to take part in these forums. We appreciate it.

Re: M6600 Owners Thread
so, with the new driver, you got more points in 3DMark11? I think, more is better, isn't it? So this are good news.

Re: M6600 Owners Thread
Can you explain, which driver in detail you used and where you downloaded this driver? Sorry, but I don't understand yet, what this AMD reference driver V. 8.85 is. I think, it is not the normal Catalyst.
On the Dell support page, the newest driver for the M8900 is version 8.80. So I guess, the driver, you installed is a newer version of this Dell driver. But how can this driver for the Firepro M8900 turn it into a Radeon M6790? (I know, the Firepro M8900 and the Radeon are nearly the same) I only think, that it would be crazy, that a dell driver for a professional GPU will turn it into a gamer GPU.
So, please explain this whole driver-story a little bit

Re: M6600 Owners Thread
Ah... I tried getting the official ATI desktop driver and adding the relevent hardware id to the .inf files which didn't work.
A couple of hours of poking around I found amd_catalyst_11.5b_hotfix_8.85.6rc5_win7_may25 which seems to install on absolutely every card.
Anyway installed it and got driver 8.85, catalyst pro and higher FPS's in games.

Re: M6600 Owners Thread
Hello, I have a question. Dell is sending me a replacement M6600 for my M6500 and it is really more machine then I need. Where would be a good place to try to sell it. Besides ebay of course. Thanks for any help I get.

Re: M6600 Owners Thread
hmm, interesting. this driver you use is newer than the newest original catalyst driver. May it be, that this driver isn't official released yet?
Also, most download options are torrent sites.
If this driver works, will also the "old" catalyst 11.5 from 9th may, which is the newest official released driver, work?
