Re: E6520 Owner's Thread
Although the cards don't sit flat, I already tried all 3 SSDs in the half-size socket labeled "flash sata." The behavior for all 3 SSDs was exactly the same as when they were plugged into the full-size socket. I'm sure the pins made contact. For example, the CoreStore MV displayed its BIOS messages during the boot process, and I was able to press Ctrl-M to enter its BIOS.

Re: E6520 Owner's Thread
Help.
I just got my new E6520 and I messed with the initial configuration.
Is there any way to reset the machine? I noticed that there is a hidden partition I assume is to reset the machine to the original state. How can I access those tools?
Thank you in advance!

Re: E6520 Owner's Thread
I am new to this forem and always preferred to write using my software. I just bought a Latitude E6520 and although I have not received My E6520 I have been using an E6500. Since I am afraid to tell you somthing incorrect I will limit my response to what can be used by you. The partition that is not visible under normal circumstances is a part of the Dell Configuration that can be entered before the operating system. I suggest that you NOT change anything within untill you are familiar with what you are doing. It is not going to help with your current problem.
Since you have a brand new computer I would expect that you have available to you Dell ProSupport or the cheaper one PLEASE USE THEM. They can help you faster and better than anyone here.
I strongly suggest that you make a copy of everything before calling them.

Re: E6520 Owner's Thread
I think that hidden partition is for recovery isn't it with an image you have to make? I'm not aware of anything to bring back to original state. If you called Dell they will charge you about $140 but if you complain about the cost they'll take $40 off.
First thing I did was to figure out how to make a system image incase and sure enough because I never used Win 7 before I fouled up and had to do image restores a few times. Good luck. Keep us posted. I'm wondering if there is a hidden partition with a full recover to original state.

Re: E6520 Owner's Thread
Thank you for all the responses I'll call tonight.
I am coming from a Vaio F13 and it was so easy to reset that machine that took literally minutes to put it back to original state.
I am so surprised I assumed that latitudes supposedly being more business like machines that this feature is not existent or so obscured. And that I have to waste tons of hours to reset it.

This guy says these hard drive caddys will only fit Ultra Bay which isn't our style of media bay in the 6520 right?

Re: E6520 Owner's Thread
Heads up -
Dell Outlet has a 15% coupon for the Vostro and Latitudes that went live this morning. The code is: 3SQDWKF8N3Z646 (Expires 06/08/11 or after the first 1,000 uses).
I was able to get a great e6520 system for under $950 delivered (tax included).
Hurry, they 10+ pages of system will probably go fast!
