    Default ProSupport

I am considering the new e6410. Coming off of a very old 600m, which I bought with GoldService. Although I rarely called for support, when I did, getting somone in the USA made a "world" of difference. The e6410 comes with 3 years , but didn't know if I would be better served to step up to the ProSupport option. Any advice is welcome, or current experiences. TIA

I paid for ProSupport...I think it's worth it. Go for it IMO.

The most important thing is NBD service. As long as it's not mail-in, it's good.

ProSupport offers additional services such as help with software and such, so it would depend on your level of computer knowledge and whether or not you are the kind that would call them frequently. I would stick to the basic NBD warranty though.

I've heard testimonials from people on this forum that said with pro support they seem more generous with parts replacements, etc. Search it here.

My biggest thing about it is getting someone I can understand and not Lucy, or Teddy... from India. Before I had gold support I would hangup numerous times until I got someone I could simply understand! Not to mention they always seemed to want you to wipe out your system and reinstall the OS.

So far I've had good luck with ProSupport. They always answer the phone fast, and have yet to treat me like I was a complete computer novice.

I write install programs for retail software, have extensive experience with the driver DDK, and am currently working with client-server software development.

I don't expect to be treated like I don't know where the "start menu" is. Only reason I'd call is for HW issues.

And the ProSupport techs I've dealt with where quick to pick this up and accommodate my needs. I think it's worth it.

Also the NBD works great. Only caveat is the "Business Day"... sucks if you have a problem on a Friday, and have to wait until Tuesday to get your part.
