Vostro 1000 Sd Card Slot Won't Work!

I have a Dell Vostro 1000 and my SD card slot will not work. My brother has the SAME exact one as I do and his works. I tried my same card on his and it worked fine. We ordered the laptops together, added the same stuff just changed the quantity. So they are definitely the same. Can anyone help me out?

Check Device Manager on both computers and see if the entries are the same.

If not, check if settings in the BIOS are the same.

If both of those agree then I would reinstall the SD card driver.

We have checked all that and they are all the same! How do I reinstall the SD driver?

The driver should be in the "Chipset" category for the downloads for the Vostro 1000. There should be something for Ricoh (or it may be another make) in addition to the Intel mobile chipset.

If reinstalling the driver doesn't fix the problem the I would suspect the slot itself. Perhaps one of the contacts is bent out of line.
