You wouldn't have an SSD installed, would you? I noted similar behavior following some Windows Updates and an SSD (plus BIOS upgrade all at the same time/reboot).

    I wish. Heh.

I flashed to A26 and it's rock solid again. Weird right? But it works so...

Why can't things just work properly all the time. I guess this forum wouldn't exist then... lol

I'm a happy user of my M4400 for 3 years now and i'm starting some serious upgrade/improve here.

    1) I overclocked the quadro fx 1700m from 625 (gpu)/800(memory)/1250(shader) to 735/1010/1505
GPU temp stay below 85°c, so it's ok for me.
I was a little bit septic with the real effect of this overclocking, but it really rocks. I can play Starcraft2 comfortably now.

2)i will change the hard drive
it will runs a SSD Crucial M4 128go, my "old" 7200rpm hdd is going to fit inside a E-modular bay caddy instead of the DVD/R reader.

    3) I'm also looking to overclock the core 2 duo T9400... but after hours of googling i can't find a clue, except than Setfsb can't do nothing for me.
i'm not really enthusiastic with pin modding...

    Any ideas here?

So i'm also googling about CPU upgrade.
do you know which Intel CPU with socket P and Intel PM45 chipset will works in my beloved M4400?

May be you don't have straight answers, but any leads will be much appreciated here!

    thanks a lot

    p.s
Sorry for my poor english, it's not my native language.
For the cpu I have just install a T9900 . Job done in 5 minutes, I had mount a hybrid hd, great improvement

    Hi All,

Wanted to ask a greater group of users about a random problem I am having with my m4400. After shutting down my laptop & heading home, i find that sometimes I remove it from the laptop bag and the whole unit is red hot. It clearly has been 'running' as the fans are still spinning and certain lights like the WIFI light and the ethernet port activity light are sometimes on.

The same can be said for hibernate mode.

What subsequently happens if the laptop is left overnight, the battery runs flat and first boot returns the RTC error.

    I've tried BIOS's from A03 through to A16, A23 now A27.

Hopefully someone has had a problem like this in the past and can advise.

It sounds like something is just inadvertantly hitting your power button and turning your laptop on, it's stuck in the bag and can't suck in any cool air and then overheats and shut down.

Might wanna check that your power button isnt loose or can be pressed by accident.

this isn't the case, i've left the laptop on a table overnight to find the battery is dead in the morning. The battery is a replacement which runs fine off AC so the battery isn't the issue either.

Try looking here Fix for Windows 7 "random wake from sleep" problem Jack Ukleja

Leave the thing plugged in and check when it is on for a wake event. It is probably the network card.

    powercfg -lastwake

Hi Tyronee, there could be a few reasons for overheating. Are you comfortable with opening up and cleaning your machine-specifically the motherboard and fan? Your air vents might also have restricted airflow. Have you tried taking the battery out and powering only through the AC adapter? Let me know if you continue to have this issue.
