Re: Latitude E4300 Owners' Corner
Same thing I discovered with a 2560P. Appears some bios code prevent RAID-0 in Intel RST. If the E6500 does support RAID-0 then could be an idea to look at how to merge it's RAID-0 bios into the E4300. Unfortunately a E6400/E6500 uses DDR2 rather than DDR3 RAM like the E4300 does, so I wouldn't suggest just doing a straight E6400/E6500 bios flash on a E4300 using a USB SPI burner.

Re: Latitude E4300 Owners' Corner
Hi All,
I have joined the club by getting me an e4300. It looks fabulous and it is more than enough for what I need from a notebook computer.
My problem is that by getting a used machine (but in mint condition
) without an OS installed, and without any installation media by the manufacturer, I have installed successfully Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I am not sure what drivers/software should go with it.
I have downloaded everything from Dell's support service, but is it possible to get a list of what I need to install before trial-and-error-ing the whole thing?
I have read the guide somewhere else here, but it looks generic for all Dells.
Thank you.

Re: Latitude E4300 Owners' Corner
For the E4300...
1. Make sure the BIOS is up-to-date (A24).
2. Download the following drivers:
Dell ControlPoint System Manager (for handy volume/brightness info)
Dell Touchpad
IDT HD Audio
Intel AMT HECI
Intel GMA 4500MHD (you'll need to use Dell OEM drivers for the brightness to sync between Windows and the BIOS)
Ricoh SD Card Reader
ST Micro Free Fall Sensor (Accelerometer)
Depending on what build you used and whether or not Windows Update download drivers automatically, you may also need to get the driver for NIC and WLAN (you'll need WLAN drivers for sure if it's a Dell Wireless card). If the system has a fingerprint reader and you want to use it, you'll need to install the Dell Data Protection | Access software.
3. If you've got the time and effort, it helps to replace the thermal grease. Beware that it requires almost a full disassembly if the system, but it will help reduce fan noise and extend battery life.DCSE, DDET, MCSA, MCTS, and MCITP Certified

Re: Latitude E4300 Owners' Corner
Thank you very much for your invaluable info. I will start right away getting them on my notebook. I have already replaced the conductive paste over the cpu. It looked ok as this one has not been used much, but it is always what I do first when buying used computers (it has been a bit of pain dismantling it, but it is always worth it).
Thank you!

Re: Latitude E4300 Owners' Corner
You're welcome! Let me know if I've missed anything or if there are still generic or unknown devices in the Device Manager.
