Re: how to perform dell vostro 1310 system restore???
Do you have Vista? If so you need to boot into Vista's "advaced boot options" screen. To do this, turn the computer on and press F8 repeatedly until the screen appears. When it appears, use the down arrow on the keyboard to select "repair your computer" and hit Enter. Log on as an administrator after choosing your language and then click Dell Factory Image Restore. Then you can follow the steps in the wizard.
If your using Windows XP, you turn on the computer, then hold down the Ctrl key then the F11 key. Release them both at the same time. This will launch Dell PC Restore by Symantec. Follow the steps in this wizard to restore.
Hope this helps, Ricky

Re: how to perform dell vostro 1310 system restore???
Are you using a recovery disc? I received a full set of install discs - XP, Vista and the Driver and Application discs with my Vostro? (Or don't Dell supply discs in every country?!)
If you have the discs you can just reinstall from them - just a matter of hitting F12 when you see the BIOS screen flash up and then select to boot from the CDROM. Pretty much just follows a standard install then.
Then it is just a matter of installing the drivers from your Driver Disc. This returns your machine to the 'factory' settings.
Of course this only helps if you received the discs (I still don't know why Dell wouldn't ship discs with a system to every country it sells to)

Re: how to perform dell vostro 1310 system restore???
Yes, by installing Vista again, you will lose all data and programs, so make sure you save anything you want to keep (documents, pictures, etc.) to a CD/DVD
Nope, just put the zipped drivers onto a CD, and burn it like you normally would:
Insert a writeable CD or DVD into your computer's CD or DVD recorder.
In the dialog box that appears, click Burn files to data disc.
In the Burn a Disc dialog box, type a name for this disc, and then click Show formatting options.
Click Mastered, and then click Next.
An empty disc folder opens.
Open the folder that contains the files you want to burn (the downloaded drivers in your case), and then drag the files into the empty disc folder.
On the toolbar, click Burn to disc.
BTW, here's the order that Dell says drivers should be installed (very important-Work from top to bottom. You might have trouble determining which driver is which, just go ahead and double click on one of them, a description of the driver should appear at some point. )
