Is there a touchpad icon down in the system tray? Check that out for settings or look for it in the control panel or in DCP.

    Update on my blinking underscore.

I ran BIOS and it said it was a CDRW_1 - bad disk....blah blah.

Then I contacted Dell Online Chat and after narrowing some things, it was suggested that I reseat the memory sticks. Then if that didn't work, then run on just one stick.

I didn't need to do the latter as the comp booted up after I resat the memory.

So far so good (knock on wood).

FWIW, I did some research on potential causes of my problem and one thing caught my eye: having two Anti-Virus systems might conflict.

Is this the possible cause as I have MS Defender (came with the system) and Kaspersky AV?

Nope, MS Defender isn't AV, it's anti spyware.

It was most likely the memory.

If you haven't already, try installing the touchpad drivers from the Dell website.

big jeffrey, he was not talking about the control panel. He was talking about the system tray.

Look in the bottom righthand corner of your screen, you should see a number of icons as well as a small arrow that points left. Click on that arrow. Do you now see an icon that looks like a touchpad, it's essentially just a grey rectange.

    Hi everyone..
    Just ordered one myself.

    T9400
    4GB ram
    80Gb 7200 rpm Hdd
    160m Nvs, Expresscard edition.
    Without the backlit keyboard.
    1440x900.

Can I buy the Xi-Fi sound ExpressCard for it? Does it support Xi-Fi technology?

Am I the only one that experienced a massive slow down on their computer with the A11 BIOS? I just "downgraded" back to the A09 BIOS and the computer is not constantly hanging up!

Here I was thinking my drive was dying, and I think it was because I moved to the A11 BIOS a few days ago...

Glad you mentioned this Greg, thanks!
I was just researching as to whether or not to flash our 22 E6500's to A11 this Friday.

We're on A06 right now, no issues really. I think we'll stay put for now.

I would try flashing it on one laptop, or wait for someone else to try it, before messing with all 22. There is a vPro update on the A11 BIOS, so if you are affected by that particular issue then you definitely want to flash one and try it.
