Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
no, because I don't have external speakers, but I plugged the headphones and didn't have any problems... (as I already wrote)
since I didn't know what else to do (after reinstalling all the audio drivers and codecs), I tried reinstalling the windows again and it didn't help...
does this mean that there is a physical problem with the speakers?
the guy at the shop where I bought the laptop told me that I would get a new one if the problem couldn't be fixed... but if this problem is common on all of the Inspiron models, would getting a new laptop (same model) help?

Yes you need to RMA to Dell or ask them to ship speakers to you.
Who said you would get a new one...? All you need is to have the speakers replaced.

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
I bought the laptop in Croatia, so I don't have anything to do with Dell directly... all of the repairs and changes made on the laptop are done through the company I bought the laptop from, so they said I would get a new one if they can't fix/replace the speakers...
but what's the point in replacing the speakers if all of the Inspiron speakers have the same problem??

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
They all don't have an issue, it is just a common issue.

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
I too have this computer and have had it since May. I have tried installing new drivers from Microsoft and Dell but it does not fix the problem. I tried to unistall the driver and allow Windows to install their own driver with a reboot, but it still does not fix the problem. Another issue I just discovered today is that only one of my internal speakers are working. Unless, as was noted, one of the speakers is for beeps while turning on the machine.

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
ok, so.. two people here have the same problem as I do.. I guess there are others that have it too... I know that laptops have weaker speakers than desktop computers but the last two laptops I had (Asus and Toshiba) didn't have THIS problem.. I'd say it's a common issue with this model and somehow doubt that replacing the speakers would help... but I'll ask for a replacement... since I have the warranty, there is no harm in asking..
thank you for all of your help, at least now I know I'm not the only one with this problem..

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
Let me tell you, at my workplace we sell plenty of 15R. This problem isn't "uncommon" but I have maybe shipped out 4 Inspiron 15R over the course of 1 year due to defective speakers, and I have probably serviced 500+ 15R. More often than not we get them in for bad hard drives (#1 failure of ALL computer manufacturers), bad keyboards/palmrest (pretty common Dell problem), AC adapters (all manufacturers). The 15R 4th most common problem? Speakers. But again it is a numbers game, statistics.

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
I just got off of chat with Dell and they are sending out a technician to replace my speakers and fix any necessary problems.

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
Purchased a new dell n5110 on 27th,October-2011 from Dubai. Am facing the exact same problem. The sound from the internal speakers as well as from the headphones has this popping and clicking.
Have not yet tried replacing the idt audio drivers with the generic windows 7 ones.
But as has been already mentioned on this forum, changing to the generic windows audio driver has not helped other users with the same problem.
Will still try and let you know what happens.
If everyone out there is facing this problem surely Dell must also know about it.
Why are they not recalling this model?
If any one knows what to do please let us know.
Thanks.

Re: problem with speakers dell inspiron N5110
For it to be a recall, it pretty much has to be a major safety issue. In the 500+ 1_R I've had to service, I've had maybe 2-3 have bad speakers, most common issues are bad drives, bad palmrest/touchpad/keyboard, and AC adapters.
