Studio 1558 in Australia
I have a Dell Studio 1558 Core i7 laptop that I'd like to take to Australia with me when I relocate from the US. Can I use it down there? If so, do I need an adapter or something else?

Re: Studio 1558 in Australia
The Dell J62H3 90W AC adapter that came with my 1558's has a universal input from 100-240V 50/60Hz, so it should work fine on Australia's 240V outlets. If you're relocating permanantly, you should be able to purchase a whole new power cord with an Australian plug on one end and a "Mickey Mouse" (technically, IEC C5) plug on the other end to replace your US power cord instead of carrying an adapter around.
For WiFi, Australia has 2 2.4GHz channels not used in the US - 12 and 13. A US notebook won't see those channels. If you need to access them, you can easily swap out the wireless card.
If your 1558 is still under warranty and you're permanently (or at least until your warranty ends) relocating, you can transfer your Dell warranty using this Dell form.Dell Studio 1558
