Default Dell Studio 14z into Alienware??

Got this laptop for 300 dollars...was looking something portable to replace my Dell Inspiron 1720 which is a monster of a laptop. Anyway it's pretty standard but I what I chose to do with this laptop is make it godly as far as laptops go, similar to Alienware. I want to upgrade nearly everything...but for starters I want to do the back lit keyboard, and do some searching for a newer Graphics Card.
I'm not really big on hardware but I have a friend who will do the work.

Now...make some suggestions for me please

Probably not much you can with it... if this is the C2D 14z, you can probably take the processor up to a T9800, memory up to 5GB, and HDD to... well, any 2.5" SATA HDD or SSD. I guess there's a small chance you could find a higher-resolution display that'll work with the machine, but you can't upgrade the GPU, which is honestly the biggest difference between this and a "gaming" machine.
