I'm afraid I can't offer a fix, but I've got exactly the same issue on my i5 Studio 1558 - Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver; the touchpad sometimes works for a few seconds but most of the time it's unresponsive!
i also bought a Dell inspiron n5010 from Bangladesh, where i live.i use an external mouse while i'm in home,so then i don't need the touchpad, and somtime while writing long texts a slight touch caused huge problem,so can anyone please tell me how to disable the tochpad?
one more things, how to scroll pages using the touchpad?is there any easier way? i tried the ways written on manual book, but it wasn't working.do i need to install any driver for touchpad?please let me know.
guys in device manager there would be the driver for the touchpad for ur system so delete the driver completely and then install the latest driver frm Welcome to Dell Support which u will find after entering ur service tag in drivers home menu under input drivers
just install this after u delete the previous drivers and then restart the system issue is fixed for u!
