After much messing around I managed to use system restore to get back to the working factory-installed version. What did I do wrong? I have read about uninstalling all drivers and then re-installing, but how do I do that?

    Many thanks in anticipation...
I had that problem, then i realized i was downloading the wrong drivers. On the drop down list on the ati site, select Mobility Radeon, instead of Radeon.

The new firmware as described by dell fixes autorun issues(I never had them or maybe i never noticed)
The new audio driver is significant improvement. No more audio leaks when switching between songs or during play/pause + more stable(No more conflicts...until now at least).

The turbo boost utility...I hope everyone will know what it will do...oh and its a windows gadget BTW.

meanwhile take a look at the pic attached...

@altoster :- I remember once u had a memory read score of ~22k in everest memory read test and evryone including me said it was an error in the application.now i believe that if the info in the pic is correct then ur results were very true.

Now I'm starting to believe that i7s are one of the most briliant series of cpu's ever produced.
I keep getting values >10 quite a few times a day().and would you believe if i say i once got 120.x ghz but that was for such a small instance that i couldn't capture it.

has anybody else tried it and got these type of values ?

Can I ask, are you using the turbo boost technology monitor/gadget downloaded from the dell site or the one downloaded from the Intel site and is there a difference. Also, as its name suggests am I correct in assuming that it only monitors the cpu status and will not provide any cpu management adjustments or speed enhancements.

The utility just monitors the cpu speed.U don't need it for turbo boost to work.

I'm using the one from the dell site.
No there is no difference between this and the one from intel site.
and yes it doesn't provides any cpu management features and just monitors the cpu speed.
