SRS Premium Sound on IDT IDT 92HD73C1 Audio Driver v. 6.10.0.6162 disapears!!
Hello Forum!!
I have an Dell Studio 1535, and I have installed the IDT 92HD73C1 Audio Driver, versión 6.10.0.6162. When I first updated my old IDT driver, the SRS Premium Sound appear in the IDT audio Settings, however it doesn´t work, when I enable the SRS processing I can´t hear any difference in the sound quality, just the same!! So I unnistalled the driver (though it was going to solve the problem), did a registry cleanning, restarted and installed the driver back. Now there is no SRS Premium Sound option in the IDT Audio Control Pannel!!, the SRS Sound option disappear!!!
My question is, anybody knows why after I have reinstalled the driver the SRS Premium sound disapear?, how can I have the SRS Premium Sound option back?? how can I make it really improve the sound quality??
Thanks a lot

Most people say to dump the IDT driver completely to get better sound.
I say get a pair of headphones.
I can't help you with your problem with SRS, but in my experience it doesn't noticeably change the sound. I've found it usually sounds better with it off.

I can tell you from experience that you're better off removing the IDT driver altogether; as mentioned above, you will get clearer sound without the constant feedback.

So what audio driver do you install then if not the IDT? Provided you're using XP.

Nothing at all. Windows will dig up its own driver if it has one and will install it automatically. I know, the solution to the crappy audio of the S15 is suspiciously easy!

XP has no driver built in. There's just the one on Microsoft Update. That the one to use? I tried the IDT one off Dell and got popping noises.

Yes, use that one. I should have been clearer: in order to use any hardware, drivers are a must. Vista has them built-in, but I suppose XP gets them through Windows Update. Let us know how it goes.

It isn't a software issue, it is a hardware issue. It is believed that the wireless card is responsible for interfering with the audio quality, but the IDT driver seems to make it worse. Removing it and using the Windows one instead is reported to eliminate the fuzzy feedback, at least; and I can tell you from my own experience that this "fix" does work to a certain extent. Nevertheless, the audio on the Studio 15 sucks no matter what you do.

It sucks on the Studio 17, too. Dell really dropped the ball by not using higher-quality speakers on a so-called "entertainment laptop".
