Okay.
Have some info, but you need to check before doing anything with it.

it seems to be delivered with some acer notebook models: 3100 aspire and 3600 aspire but also in the 5600 aspire series.

With the upgrade kit from acer from xp to vista the firmware flash tool is included with it so maybe you can rip it out and flash it with the firmware version in the upgrade foder.

At this time the acer website for vista support isn't working.

Out of curiosity, why do you need the original? Firmware upgrade process go terribly wrong? I have been wondering if dvd drive firmware upgrade would yield any improvements, but I have personally never done it before...

yea, i upgraded and it worked great for a while. all of a sudden nothing will read in the drive. might just be the drive died. figured i would revert back to original and try that. and i need the acer upgrade to do what was posted above. and i cannot figure out how to get it from acer website.
