Asus laptops start/boot up times!!
For all you Asus laptop owners...what are your boot up times??
I just need to know to do some comparison. PLease provide your boot up times for cold boots. Start the time when you see the Asus logo on the black screen till desktop.
Mine is 55-60 secs which seems pretty slow for what i have installed on the system. I have NOD32 AV and i only have two processes in msconfig for start up.

Re: Asus laptops start/boot up times!!
You need to take into consideration, the OS, the CPU, the HDD, and the chipset... and then of course your startup processes... So everyone could be very different, but I agree that's slow.. but I also don't know what you're using either.

Re: Asus laptops start/boot up times!!
Bunta have a look at this thread, it contains everything you may want to know.
BootLog XP - How Long Is Your Startup?
Also, did you do a fresh install of Windows or are you running with the factory installed Windows and settings?
PS: You should download Bootlog XP and let that time your boot time, rather than using a timer/clock.
With this program you will be able to see what causes your laptop to boot up so slow. In my opinion your boot time is on average, because most laptop originally have a boot time of 90+ seconds when you first receive it from ASUS.
Then a handfull of poeple format, and many remove useless programs that come pre-installed.
so have a look through the thread, and se what you can do to help your boot time.

Re: Asus laptops start/boot up times!!
Yeah, your times are a bit slow, but not bad for a normal setup..... I agree with danny and suggest bootlog to see what's taking the extra time... you should be able to cut maybe another 15% off that time, if that... but nothing more.

Re: Asus laptops start/boot up times!!
I forgot to mention...i have a 4 port usb hub connected to the laptop. I use an external Creative 5.1 sound card, an Western Digital My Book external h/d 7200rpm and a Logitech mouse receiver. I also have an external monitor connected to the DVI output on the laptop( i dont think the monitor has an effect tho).
Right now, in msconfig, i only have the NOD32 and someother RunDLL system thing that i am too afraid to disable.
