Default Asus K53 Wifi LED does not lighting up, when should it light up?

    Hello all!

My brand new K53E i3 2310 just arrived from Newegg, and the first thing I did was to reinstall Windows to Windows Ultimate x64!

However, I soon discovered a problem. Somehow my wireless LED will not light up for some reason, and I can't find out why, even after installing ACPI, WIFI, other drivers and upgrade BIOS to 216 from Asus.com. In my EeePC, the Wifi LED will light up right after I press the power button, meaning it will even light up before and in BIOS if it is enabled. However in the K53E it will not light up anytime after boot even in BIOS. It only lights up for about 1/10 of a second when I press the power button. Perhaps the LED isn't dead, but maybe the wireless card isn't connected properly to the LED? Turning WIFI on and off using Fn+F2 in Windows does not change the status of the LED; it just remains off.

I don't know if it's a software problem or hardware, but can any laptop users or better yet A/K series with Intel i Series users tell me when does your WIFI LED start to light up? Does it light up right after you press the power button? Does it light up during BIOS?

Thanks for any help, deeply appreciated.
    Paul

Is your wireless card working correctly, as in are you able to wirelessly get online. You mentioned you reformatted your hard drive. We're the wireless card drivers reinstalled? You can check to see if its showing in device manager.

Yes the wireless connections are working flawlessly, I tried both the Windows 7 driver and the ones provided from Asus.com and even the latest Atheros driver from another unofficial Atheros company, but it still never lights up.

Make sure you have the wireless console 3 utility installed:
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download K53E

Expand utilities and it's towards the bottom.

Also make sure you have the atk drivers installed.

I figured out why it doesn't work sort of or at least I know when it stopped lighting up.

I recently installed power4gear which needed the atk0100 driver and before I didn't have it installed and the led was working. So pretty much after installing the atk0100 driver it stopped working... I suppose I could just uninstall the atk0100 driver. However I think the atk0100 driver has some vital functions for optimal Intel turbo boost control and something to do with the intel/ nvidia graphics interface.

Anyway yeah I know it's an old thread but I didn't feel it necessary for me to create a new thread.
