Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
If I was not able to fix this my self, I would actually be worried.
Also your sig is a lil odd on how it says your a6-3400m is oc'ed to a slower clock than it's stock turbo boost which it usually sits at when you're put demand on it.
Go back find my k10stat profile and use it, you should be fine.
My real question is I wonder if/and how much perf increase could possibly be gained by the processor running exactly double the ram speed for instance: 2.666ghz vs 2.7ghz when the ram is at 1.333
My guess is no. I'm just wondering why there wouldn't be an increase when all the clock and memory requests line up.
maybe I should fire up cpumark and test it out.

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
He probably OC his stock P0 (1.4Ghz) to P0 (2.2Ghz) so his boost might be like 2.4-5 Ghz
I already did some WEI test with Overclocking. I've seen that running between 2-2.5Ghz didn't improve my RAM score. But, over 2.5Ghz OC, my ram score went to 7.5 from 7.2. So yes, as long as you improve your OC, your ram improve as well.Old Old Rig - Gateway NV5909h i3-330m @ 2.1Ghz 8Gb Kingston RAM 1066Mhz ATI 5650 OC 650/985

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
Glad to know the power jack plug won't give us a problem later on. I've owned 1 other laptop with this problem.
This is valuable information for me, since I also dropped my ASUS on its left side on soft carpet from 3 feet off the ground with power connected. Everything still works on mine, but the connector looks a little bent for me. You've given me peace of mind that it isn't soldered to the motherboard. I was afraid it would eventually break off in the next few years. So now I know that I can take it apart later and tape the connector like you. I'll wait until year 2 owning this until I make this fix since it's under warranty.

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
I'm actually not sure that we have a true 2 year warranty....I know that it's listed with a 2 year "global warranty", but when I spoke with Asus when RMAing my system he told me that the warranty depends on the region in which the system was purchased. It was my understanding that in the US, this particular model only has a 1 year warranty with one way shipping. I can confirm this seeing as I had to shell out 30 bucks for shipping w/insurance to send them my brand new laptop in for repair, and on the side of the original box it also states I have a single year of warranty. It might be something worth double checking.

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
Asusk53 is correct. although I have yet to see my computer kick into turbo mode. Every time I would check my FPS they would always be the same as well.
Can't wait till I build my own rig though because Asus Customer service is killing me. Fedex says my PC has arrived to Asus. I check my repair status yesterday and instead of saying "We have not received the product yet" it then said "We don't have records of your inquiry". (also my notebook is now missing from registered products...) Now today I try and check it and brings up an extra page the from the looks of it is an employee login page which makes it IMPOSSIBLE for me to check my status.
So ya, I can't wait to build my own PC and all my parts won't be from Asus since they are proving to be dumber than a box of rocks. I honestly don't think they know the meaning of WARRANTY so I wouldn't count on those 2 year warranties guys.. I only have a 1 year but it's still crap serviceGaming Laptop:

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
I know it's only a 1 year warranty..so I only have 6 months left
.
I meant I'd probably wait until a year later before I attempt to take my laptop apart to make any mods, cleanups, or repairs since it might void the 1 year warranty if I take it apart now.
Just like others, I'd hate to have any problems and have to shell out shipping expenses for repairs...but I guess it's better than taking a loss on our investment or spending over $150 for repairs.

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
I had a similar problem, just keep calling them and express your displeasure. They lost mine for a week and wouldn't own up to it, but because Fedex keeps a scanned signiature along with the exact arrival time I was able to use that to show them that they actually had it. Call and speak with a manager (this can be hard with them...) and make sure they put in an official rush request on your RMA. Once they did that my computer "magically" reappeared and was fixed and shipped the next day.

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
I can't blame you one tiny bit. I wonder if they would notice if I opened and repasted the system...

Yeah, I'd rather pay the one way shipping and know that I am at least getting Asus components. Of course if I weren't shipping it to Asus I would more than likely fix it myself ha. I just don't trust other people with my computers haha.

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
Called and they say it's being repaired and that they can see my status says it's being repaired and that they received on the date FedEx shipped it so their website just hates me.
asusk53 Are you using ONLY your 6650M (if so how are you only using that)? or are you using Dual Graphics Mode and 6520G at times?
Also does anyone have a good Kstat Profile with good temps while playing Battlefield 3? GlasGhost you said you have one but I'm not sure where it is xDGaming Laptop:

Re: K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
I'm only playing with my 6650 OC, when it's possible. DX11 games play well, but oldest game like saints row 2 is laggin very bad because it only use the 6520.
I got a profile stable with max temp of 78C (on table no cooling pad, very acceptable for me) when both cpu and gpu are OC, on battlefield 3.
