The way the k53 is designed there are no vents on the bottom of the laptop so unfortunately a cooling pad doesn't make much of a difference. I have one for my wife's acer that made a huge difference on hers but only 1C after several LONG gaming sessions

Agreed. TOR is a dog in PvP and any populated areas no matter what I do.

That's terrible news as I just ordered TOR from ebay not too long ago. Hopefully someone can figure something out before my copy gets delivered Purchased the game specifically for PvP and I would hate to be limited to just quests/4 man instances.

Yeah, I was running a computer with less specs at home/while on break and was fine in both PvE and PvP.

This is exactly what i have. you can fit a desktop fan on it too. laptop stays firmlyvon it. You can place the fans where you want too.. I recommand it

here's a good cooler that I'm using on my k53ta. im able to oc cpu to 2.8/3.0 and maintain around 68-70C and around mid 70's when playing intense games (LoL, deus ex, cs, sc2, cod,bf) the thing is... i dont know if they sell this in the states.

I love this laptop have had it since August, but now the first issues are starting to arise. First the usb plug on next to the 3.0 blue one has stopped working, it will not recognize any device that is plugged into it. Second when watching videos there is no sound at all, sometimes restarting the videos seems to bring up the sound but only on occasion. A restart of the computer will always do the trick, but if i start a video after it comes out of sleep no dice. Can anyone give me insight on how to go about fixing these issues?

did you try reinstalling the drivers? If that fails to solve the problem send it in for repairs.

Latest CAP profiles have been updated about 6 days ago. Not sure how much more it improves crossfire and single GPU configurations.... But might be worth a look!

update: Things look slightly improved:
--I tried Batman AC at my preferred resolution of 1440x900 and am getting better results similar to my old 1366x768 settings.
RESULTS: Direct x9 ;AA FXAA low;very high details ; OC B0 2.6ghz P0 2.2ghz; gpu oc 640/960--> 59 fps Max, 47 avg; (my old 1366x768 results were 61max 47avg); (crossfire 60Max, 47avg, so no drop off with crossfire on.)
--BF3 also seems slightly smoother, but may be about the same at 1366x768.Around 38fps avg. With crossfire on maybe things are improved I was seeing 55 fps a lot, but it might dip to 44fps. So things seem better overall with and without crossfire.

Anyone tried installing ubuntu on this notebook. I tried via wubi last night but after ubuntu installs and when it should boot screen flickers and goes black.
