ASUS RECOVERY CD - 1st Partition??
hey, i'm gonna reformat my asus w5 with the 2cds Asus gave me.
i remember it has 4 options.
something like MSDOS with CDROM
and then: recover to 1st partition
and: recover to entire HD
and: recover to entire HD with 2 partitions
my question is what does the 2nd option really mean?
i'm planning on partitioning on the entre HD,
then i wanna use partition magic and create a separate drive which is for everything else. so basically the C: will only be windows.
so in a case where my windows is not working (like right now), does the 2nd recovery option mean that the C: will get recovered? i dont' understand what it means by '1st partition'?
which is one is the best?
thanks

Re: ASUS RECOVERY CD - 1st Partition??
My understanding is that the first partition is C:. Restoring to this partition will overwrite whatever is in C: and leave other partitions intact. I would recommend using this option.
Recovering to the whole HDD means that the whole HDD will be wiped and, depending on the option you select, one or two partitions created.
Somewhere there may also be a hidden recovery partition. This contains the same files that are on the recovery CDs.
