It may be too soon for these to have surfaced but has anyone seen a service/upgrade manual for the new Asus F3SC?

I am looking to buy one and would rather upgrade the memory myself due to all the quotes I have being way too extortionate for a small amount of work!

Thanks!

Haven't seen the unit, so don't know for sure.

Still, if it's consistent with other Asus notebooks, you'll just have to pop the memory panel screws on the bottom and slide the new stick in. If the second RAM slot is under the keyboard, rather than underneath, you'll have to loosen the K screws on the bottom and then pop the keyboard out. The latter step usually requires popping the latches along the top of the keyboard with a credit card or paper clip, and then lifting it out.

Pretty simple, all told, as long as you're careful .

brilliant.. either way sounds pretty straight forward. I don't see the point in buying a laptop + paying over the odds for memory then paying someone to fit it and "test" it. The quotes I have from the suppliers (that I have found) of the F3SC are in the region of £60-70 to upgrade the memory from the standard 1gb to 2gb. I can get the memory fit it myself and still have more than enough change for a good night out!

Thanks for the info ClearSkies

I am losing my mind trying to get this A2 open to check the fans. There are rows and rows of holes above the keyboard where the speakers are. I poked every one of them and the panel is not sliding anywhere. Does anyone know how to open this one? All I know is it's in the A2 series. I can provide a picture if it will help. I know someone else suggested the sixth hole to the right and fifth down, and that hole feels deeper and hollow compared to the others, but it's doing nothing. The two holes to the right of it also feel different, but I feel no button or spring.

Usually you first need to unscrew the "K>" screws on the bottom of the notebook, and then there are around 4 latches above the keyboard that need to be pushed UNDER the keyboard plate.

Possibly before this the keyboard bezel has to be removed (some models only).

If this doesn't help, please check the bottom of the notebook for the model number (e.g., V6800J corresponds to a V6J). Then search google and this forum for " disassembly manual" or " disassembly instructions".

Hi

I'm new in the forum and I've just found this topic.
I need to replace the dvd drive of my laptop, an Asus A2H.
Can anyone tell me, step by step, how it is done?
I don't know if it is necessary to "open" the laptop or just unscrew one or two screws and switch it for the new one.

Thanks
