How to get fan control for my Asus laptop? Please help
I have a S62J. I downloaded fan speed programs but can't control my fan!
I am just wondering how do I get ACPI and NHC to control the fan?
The only time the fan moves is when I boot it up.
My specs in my sig, S62J is the same as Z62J I believe.Acer 4620Z-4963: Intel Dual Core 1.86GHz T2390, 3GB DDR2, 250GB SATA, 14.1" WXGA CrystalBrite, Vista Home Premium
Toshiba U300-AY1: Intel Dual Core 1.6GHz T2330, 3GB DDR2, 160GB SATA, 13.3" WXGA+ Trubrite, Vista Home Premium

Re: How to get fan control for my Asus laptop? Please help
Please note that fan control isn't working so well with new models, mainly because the programs (NHC, SpeedFan) haven't been updated to support the newer mobile chipsets. So, if you're running fan control programs, please uninstall them, they may make your fan stop or not run properly.
Then:
If the fan only moves when you boot up then some power management software or firmware is faulty.
Are you sure it doesn't move, or does it move and you just don't hear it? What values do your temps stabilize at? Use e.g., RMClock to observe the temps.
If you use a stress program like Orthos Prime, does your fan kick in? Either that should happen, or the computer should shut down due to heat (don't do this without monitoring the temps though, if they get too high shut down Orthos and turn off the computer, in case there are more bugs than the fan not running you don't want to melt your CPU).Notebooks: ASUS F6Ve --- W7Sg --- V6J --- M6BNe

I have clarified the post... to highlight that fan control software might be what actually stops the fan.
