    Default Could I slap this in a soon-to-be-mine G2S?

    http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...824A-R&cat=HDD

i don't know much about compatibility issues, just that the g2s, according to http://www.laptops4u.nl/extrainfo/asus-g2s-250.html, takes SATA HDDs and the one linked above says it's SATA. Anyway this is cheaper and better than what milestone and gentechpc can give me.

No, that is a 3.5" disk. 2.5" are for laptops. 2.5" 7200RPM usually only go up to 100GB, but 160GB and 200GB ones are around but rare, and expensive.

You have to ask them if it is 3.5 in or 2.5 in. If the latter then yes. But it isn't. There is no way that a 300GB 7200RPM 2.5 exists from maxtor. The largest notebook HDD they make at all is 160GB. Also, if it did exist it would cost nearly 700 dollars (probably, since no other company has one and everyone would want it)

EDIT: He beat me to the punch, but yeah, this is what that is.

post updated, the one in the link i think is still cheaper if i buy separate, plus i could sell the extra on ebay or something.

edit: btw, what does the the 8mb cache mean? is there better for laptops? is this seagate one a good quality one?

seagate makes maxtor. maxtor is a very good memory company. They make the Momentus line, which is IMHO, the best laptop HDD out right now.

    Eh..that's a 3.5...

There's the Samsung SpinPoint MP100 200GB 7200RPM SATA 2,5 already out for sale:

and the Hitachi 7k200 as well, but so far it's only available through Dell and Alienware...hopefully they'll release it to the general public soon.

Yea, but 200 is not 300...
Edit: and they aren't worth 60 bucks are they?
Edit2: and by "they" I meant Seagate
