Default anybody ever had their motherboard replaced?

    Hello,

I recently send my week old W7J back to BTOTech to see what was wrong with it since it was new. It was diagnosed with a dead mobo. I was wondering if anybody else had problems with their mobo? Eddie was cool enough to understand my problem and is taking care of the problem.

Many people have problems with their motherboard if they have spilt some sort of liquid onto it, but they generally don't just die on you. Normally, it is simply just something to other components which cause problems. I did have my motherboard replaced in my notebook a few weeks after I bought it, under warranty by Fujitsu Siemens, but it turned out that wasn't the problem. They replaced it anyway, along with a few other things, which was okay, as it got the motherboard working again.

It's not common for the motherboard to have a problem, but over they years we've certainly replaced our share. Not that this is really Eddie's problem, but if your motherboard goes within 30 days, Asus considers it DOA (dead on arrival - or darn close to it)... If the board actually goes, that's one situation where they would actually replace the entire system with a new one... so, I hope that's the route that's being taken.

this was actually doa. surprising as it was this was dead for "natural" reasons. i actually thought he spilled it or dropped it but this thing was sent back brand new no spills no physical damage. pretty strange problem actually. stzd8 i was under the impression you took this overseas. if you did this may have something to do with the faulty/fried charging circuit. this will be done by end of the week. to answer your question. i lost count of how many motherboards we swapped out to date. like the poster above said, more often then not faulty mainboards in laptops are cased by physcial damage/spill or simply neglet and careless use. physical damage and spills are not covered by warranty but neglect is kind of hard to push on the customer. i mean it is not their fault that they keep it on 24/7 the fans and radiators get completly clogged the laptop overheats continuously the case and board get hotter and hotter and eventually something gives way. word of advice. keep your laptop off when not in use.

    Geared2play,

Well my post was out of curiosity on other ppl to see if they had same problem. Not ranting or giving bad word on you or other resellers. But as you can tell, I didn't damaged it. If I did intentional damage, I would be really stupid since I spend $$$$ and wreck it.

I accept that must be bad luck on me that I got a DOA. I just don't like it when I get blamed for something that I didn't do.

Anyone know if it is possible to fry your motherboard by overloading a USB port? It seems like that is what happend to mine. I guess I will just have a to get a new laptop. -_-

    Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I would think it would be possible. If you have too much draw, things could overheat, things like that. Buy an Asus this time.

    Well,

Just to conclude my experience. I got my W7J back from BTOTECH and so far is working great. I want to appreciate Eddie for being patient and replacing the MB. Sometimes with electronics things may get bad luck but I appreciate them for being understanding and the fast service.
