    Default U46SM-DS51 Owner's Lounge

As a search didn't turn anything up, I guess it falls to me to get this thread underway.

Problems with Steam and the Optimus enabled NVIDIA GT 630M are driving me up the wall right now but I will post the proper links to media and product pages in the morning.

I am definately enjoying mine. Got mine yesterday and I have been able to dump the OS and install Win7 Pro. Been working well thus far. If anyone is interested, I have been doing some testing and posting the results for another member. Here

Okay, I have been able to complete all your CPU Heat testing. I am not sure what to do for your GPU testing as I am not a gamer...but with this I am sure we can do something. So if you, or someone else, can suggest a tool to use I will gladly run it.

I also set the laptop to run in Asus's High Performance power scheme and was plugged into AC power. Just to note this in case anyone was wondering.

Here is the screenshot of CPU-Z:

Here is the idle screenshot of Hardware monitor. I booted it and left it alone for 15mins.

Here is a mid-load screenshot. I ran three instances of VLC. 2 instances with a 720p h.264 vids playing and the third instance ran a 1080p h.264 video. Screen shot is after 10 mins of continous play from all three files. (Via the network, not local for all three)

And the final screenshot. The with heavy load. I ran Prime95 for 25 minutes and the screen shot is from that 25min time mark.

To Note, it took the laptop 2.5 to recover back to low 50c temps. But it dropped to high 60c temps in about 20 seconds or so.

I will start to time the batt life in the High Performance setting now.
I ran FurMark for you. Around 82-83degrees C is when the fan kicks in high gear

Here is the 720 Preset test results:

Here is the custom one I did. At the 1366 x 768 resolution, full screen, and AA set to 2x. I first just did the burn in to get the temp up (took about a minute). Then I exited the screen and ran the custom benchmark with the same settings to get the details for the screenshot. So the correct high end temps are being reported.

I hope this all is helpful. Just let me know if you want other settings tested, also the above tested were only getting about 9 FPS.. how sad. Oh well, I wasn't going for a true gaming laptop. If I was, I would have grabbed the ASUS G74.

I quoted your posts here as well so people can look up the info in this thread when the other one gets buried without having to browse the other thread. I hope you don't mind, but if you do let me know.

Nope no mind here. I am going to make my last comment in the other thread about viewing angle. But then I will be done. Thanks for moving things around for me.

It takes about 36seconds to reach the desktop with Wifi connection confirmed. (and three gadgets up and running) I tested with the laptop off for five minutes. Pressed the power on button and the stopwatch start button at the same time.

Takes about four restarts to get this boot time in the cache of the Momentus XT. But it is pretty fast after the second boot.

Can someone post screen shots of GPU-Z please? Curious to see which version of the 630m they went with.

Tijo! As in, Tijo from GW2Guru? Anyways I've been trying to look for info on some rough estimate speculation on when ASUS or Clevo will have some decent Kepler based notebooks available (particularly the 660m).

Nice to see ASUS is rolling out some newer machines like this one.

Yeah, the one and only. Sup Bhima?

Anyways, i wouldn't expect Asus to really start rolling their kepler notebooks until the beginning of this summer. We'll probably see some limited availability for some models as soon as April though.
