Thanks for the advice re Hibernation, itīll will be removed shortly. Touchpad is annoying works fine apart from the right click, I think Iīll be trying out Asusīs support shortly and get the touchpad replaced

Hi all. I have an Asus N53SN S-1344V (FHD monitor, i7 2630QM, GT 550M, 750GB @ 7200rpm, dvd-rom etc.). I really like the laptop. The only thing i don't like it's the keyboard. Not only because it flexes, i don't look to it while typing to see it flex, but because it's very noisy (the cheap kind of noisy) and also sand-ish feeling (i feel like moisturizing my fingers all the time i use the laptop ).
Also what i don't like about the keyboard it's the fact that there is no space between the numpad and the rest of the keyboard, making it very hard to feel with your fingers the edge between them. And also the arrow keys are very hard to find without looking at the keyboard (mostly because they have the same dimensions as the number keys and the right arrow being part of the numpad). And it's not about getting used to it, as I have more than 2 weeks with it...

So i decided to buy a new keyboard (chiclet and backlit), just ordered this one from ebay: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

While i'm waiting for it I want to know better how to make the backlit work. I saw the pictures and videos posted by elbolo, but i want it more detailed

And... I saw your post, ASUS787 and if you want to make a better guide I would be grateful, because i kept searching for a good one for at least 6 hours

I don't know how to solder, but I can learn. Tell us all the tools and how you made it (for example, from where you took the wires? I read that simple ethernet wires would work?). How do you know which of the pin from the keyboard is the +5v and which one is the ground? how do you know what pin to solder from the usb? I found some guide for another laptop that used the fan wires, wouldn't it be more easy?
Also about the wi-fi switch, what do you mean by 'you need to bridge two of the three poles on the wifi switch'? where are they located, how do you know which to pick and where/how to bridge them? where to put the wire into the wi-fi switch?

Any detailed response will be grately appreciated, and maybe if you take the time to make it with photos and videos you could actually open a new thread for it. I'm very sure it's very useful, as the keyboard for n53sn is not something that you would desire (I have the original non-chiclet keyboard, the one with the flex issue, which for me it's not the real issue of this keyboard).
I've bought the keyboard on that link, and it's messed up on my system. It types wrong letters

I have been having trouble with the USB3 port. I have downloaded the latest drivers from here ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download USB3.0 and hopefully the port will be more reliable now.

My N53SV has the Fresco USB3 port.

well, I think I did plug it correctly, I didn't try the other way around though...
Since my post I googled it a bit, I live in Turkey and my N53SN could be localized to Turkey or something like that.

What do you have in your keyboard languages screen?

EDIT: I plugged it wrongly, It shouldn't work at all, right? Mine is working but with messed up characters. For example, the "Enter" key is like F5 in the new one.

It shouldn't matter what language is chosen in windows...
Explain a little how's the keyboard behaving, like all the letters are messed, some? What about the controls key like shift, arrows, control, enter, esc etc.

every single key binded to somewhere else, ctrl, shift, del...
for example - key is now delete, "num lock" key now opens media center.

could be in need a new ATK driver or smth?
