Re: Asus G73JW-3DE Owners Lounge
Yeah, agreed that is usually the game and a search reveals that people struggle to run it on many Windows 7 64-bit machines. Don't think I was on the latest patch so sorting that out then will try again.
Not sure about the event viewer. Will check it next time (though I hope there won't be a next time).
Will also try running in 32-bit if need be, but I think that may put me at a disadvantage when I have 8gb of RAM to draw on (think only 64-bit uses your memory beyond 4gb?).
Thanks for the ongoing tips!
Just to give an update on Crysis, I was only running patch 1.1. Updated to 1.2.1 and after a 30min play session it seems to be running fine (with a few more FPS to boot I think).
The only issue now is that some jeeps have no rear wheels, but apparantly this is a well documented bug with the game which manifests when loading a previously saved game.
All good...............for now. *touches wood and crosses fingers*
edit: played for a solid hour now. All good and really enjoying the game and the laptop. This is why I bought it. Sure I wanted the lovely matte screen, I needed a new PC anyway, I wanted the mouse, the nice chiclet keyboard, the bluray player etc, but getting to play Crysis smoothly at High settings and 1080p is just awesome. First time I haven't been frustrated by this bloody thing, lol!!
As for temperatures, the GPU is reporting about 32 idle, 60 after an hour of Crysis. Seems ok to me.
Thanks again to everyone for all the help. Fantastic community here!

Re: Asus G73JW-3DE Owners Lounge
Honestly don't know. Was sitting in my dining room at the time. Was about 23:00 so had switched the heating off. Wasn't freezing though. Consider though that it was a decent sized open room with the exhaust fans into the middle of the room (nothing blocking them, not even a wall). I imagine in summer, during the day, it would be nearer/over 70. Your temps sound fine anyway to me? Especially compared to the JH model temps.

How is that 120hz screen on the 3de? Is it matte or glossy and how does it look... wondering if its worth going 3de instead of a1.

Welcome to the party!! I hope you don't have any issues, but if you do please post here. Its a good a community who will help you out of most issues.
In update to my own 3D woes, I received and watched Piranha 3D last night. Played in 1080p, Stereoscopic 3D without a hitch through CinePlayer. Also tested with PowerDVD 10 and it worked a treat. All good!
