Re: Asus N43J* Thread
I am facing the same confusions. N43 is much much better in every way except battery when compared to U41. I got a G51 and feels a bit tooo heavy nd noisy. Recently asus launched a variation of N43 here in indonesia(which is where i am working now) which is usual model minus bluray, - 2gb ram - windows for 850USD. i hv been running arnd this town to find a piece but seems like its sold out. I was anyway going to get an SSD and OBHD caddy nd upgrade the RAM. U36 was my primary target but a bit turned off coz of the 310M.
anyone got any comments on the noise level and color gamut of the screen for N43???
thanks

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
What are peoples experiences with the chiclet style keyboards? Just seem like the mroe standard one on the n43 would be much easier to work on!

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
I have ordere a u41jf i5 but I wonder if I should cancel that order after reading about the n43.
Can anyone come with an educated guess on when the SL or the SN will hit the stores? And will there be any big price difference?
The only one avaliable here in Norway as far as i can see is the JF version.
One more thing, the u41jf has 1333MHz memory chips and the n43 has 1066MHz. Is there a big difference in preformance or is the 1333 chips compatiable with the n43?

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
I would definitely go for the N43SN purely because it has the better Nvidia 550 GPU, and has the new Intel Sandybridge processors, which going by reviews are a lot faster and more power efficient, currently for sale in China and Taiwan, but I contacted another reseller in Poland who is currently selling the JF and they are actually expecting the N43SN in March, so for me that's looking like its going to be a weekend break in Warsaw!
Heading home to NZ in easter via Korea with a stop over there on the way back, but don't like my chances of finding one there! I also had a friend look in Singapore but they are not releasing that model there, I also asked an american reseller and the SN version is not scheduled to be released there either.
oh yeah the N43SN version does come with 1333mhz ram http://bbking.techbang.com.tw/NB/pro...?id=2110&gid=6
also with this review why would you buy older chipset http://www.techsmart.co.za/hardware/...SL_review.htmlLast edited by NZwaverider; 16th February 2011 at 05:49 PM.

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
Still the battery life on the new 43SN is not were near the 7-9 hours of the u41...
And still the weight of it will be amost a pound more.
So my questions above still stand..

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
Hey there,
The chassis are different sizes so I would say the keyboards would not be interchangeable.
It seems simple to me, if you want performance and don't mid the extra weight, go for the N43.
If you want a slimmer, lighter but less powerful laptop go for the U41.
Personally I want as powerful as possible in a 14" chassis, so im choosing the N43SN, anything 13" and under all have lower grade GPU's seems 14" is the smallest you can go while getting a good dedicated GPU.
Does that help?Asus N43SN, Win7 Ultimate 64, | i7 2630 | 8gb 1600mhz Hyperx RAM | 1gb Nvidia GT 550 | 240gb OCZ Vertex 3 | 720gb Seagate HDD

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
Yes it does, but how effective is the keyboard on the 41? It seems on a chiclet style keyboard being a quick and effcient user with your laptop would suffer compared to the n43's regular proffesional kind of keyboard

Re: Asus N43J* Thread
Ok, I've ordered N43SN. ETA March 17th.
Specification:
CPU: i5 - 2410M (I'm not sure if I need 2 more cores for 150€)
RAM: 8GB
GPU: GF GT550M
HDD: 640GB (probably I will change it for Momentus XT)
Screen: 1366 x 768
Price: 770€
I will run benchmarks as soon as notebook arrives.
Maybe it looks like it, but I can assure you, it isn't. Too much flex for me. XPS M1530 had better keyboard.
N43JF with i5 and GT425 is really quiet. At silent office mode it's almost inaudible. When under stress it is quieter than my M1530 was with no stress at all.
Screen's colors aren't great, worse than 1440x900 AU Optronics in XPS M1530.Last edited by tj69; 28th February 2011 at 04:40 PM.
