Re: Asus G51Jx Owners Lounge
If you mean just pulling the backplate off thats easy as. I dont really understand.
Currently making my own lappy cooler from 3 case fans I scored from a mate. 2x 80mm and 1x 120mm. Total amp needed tho is 0.55 as each fans required amp is 0.2, 0.18, 0.17 :s
Was planning to run it from usb which has a max usb out of 0.5amp. Should I just drop one of the smaller fans or will they simply run at a slower speed?2007: Asus F3Sc

Re: Asus G51Jx Owners Lounge
lol same, im too cautious to fiddle around with the insides of my laptop for stuff like that. I can do HD/ram replacements and clean out the fan and thats it, too unfamiliar with other parts so i don't wanna mess it up. I would rather pay someone 30 bucks to do it for me lol.

Re: Asus G51Jx Owners Lounge
No problem. The way nvidia have their drivers setup is to force the gfx card into high performance 3d mode any time an external monitor is detected simply because of the increase in effective resolution.
At the moment there still is no method of forcing low performance 2d mode with an external monitor as far as I am aware.
Using everest you can see that the Standard 2D (lowest clocks) profile for the Nvidia 360m is:
Standard 2D GPU: 135 MHz, Shader: 270 MHz, Memory: 135 MHz
Now using the device settings tab in the performance section of the Nvidia Control Panel you can create a custom profile using the sliders. Drag them as low as they will go (Not as low as standard 2d unfortunately) and that is your new under clock. Save this profile and it should ask if you wish to load this as default on windows boot.
These values should be:
2 Monitor Setup GPU: 137 MHz, Shader: 330 MHz, Memory: 450 MHz
Now using the handy NV-Profile tool, you can easily switch between Underclock and standard mode with the tool. The original mode your gfx will be using should be userdflt.nsu
Hope this helps

Re: Asus G51Jx Owners Lounge
hey guys how do you clean the palmrests if you do at all? My palms sweat all over the place, so should i use a damp cloth or will that ruin it?
