Re: “C90S Unleashed” by Angel Marinov
ALT+F2 gave the same "not compatible ROMID..." thing. But maybe because I tried to reflash the same 1002A ?
Then I just tried the DOS procedure first with the original 1002 with the 226 AFUDOS : went fine, and no more post failure message.
Then second step (don't know if getting back to 1002 first was mandatory for this to work) : getting back to 1002A. Flash procedure went fine, and no more failure message.
Job is done!
Many thanks Angel! Hope I'll receive my SSD soon so I can help back giving some compatibility info

Very nice setups! You surprise me that the E6500 performs better than the E7500 with both clocked at 2.93ghz!
I would assume the E6500 might possibly run a bit cooler but surely performance must favour the E7500?
Perhaps you could also try a low end 4xxxM series card too! The 3470 though still is a good low powered IGP graphics solution for the C90 thoughAlienware M15x | Intel i7 920XM | 1080p | 8GB G-Skill | Samsung 470 256GB + Hitachi 7k500 500GB | AMD 7970M @ 950/1450 (1.05V)| External Sony BD5500S Bluray | Windows 7 | 240W + 9 cell | Bigfoot 1103 | USB 3.0 |

Re: “C90S Unleashed” by Angel Marinov
Hello Everyone,
Let me begin by thank you angel & al. for this thread,
I'm the lucky owner of a C90S since October 2007 and it works perfectly.
Last week, i had the opportunity to change my HDD by a Scorpio Black one for free so i did it. I make some holes in the shell under the heatsinks and the HDD. It comes to me that i bought this laptop for the possibility of upgrading it so here I am.
I want to put the best CPU and the best VGA cards it can accept.
After reading this thread, i think i'll buy a X6800 and a HD 4670 DDR3 1Go with 2x2 GB RAM but i don't know which one too.
P.S : I think my laptop is always working after 4 years because i always use it with a notebook cooler.
P.S 2 : Can't we put a MXM III instead of a MXM II ??
Thanks in advance.Last edited by Jonthekiller; 4th December 2011 at 02:46 PM.

Re: “C90S Unleashed” by Angel Marinov
Mxm III is possible but very very difficult!! You will have to mod your cpu heatsink to allow it to fit. Yes I succeeded and managed to install a ati 4850! It was hardly a finished mod though and the vbios didn't allow the card to interact with the laptop's lcd! Nvidia card's might work better such as the GTX280M but then again the cooling would need ALOT of attention.
I therefore highly recommend against it and stick to what Angel has suggested. I have also run a 4670 GDDR3 512mb ram card and it was a beauty. This card however is incredibly hard to find. Unless you can pick up a spare one from a msi ex625 you are outta luck and will have to go the 1GB GDDR3 inferior version routeAlienware M15x | Intel i7 920XM | 1080p | 8GB G-Skill | Samsung 470 256GB + Hitachi 7k500 500GB | AMD 7970M @ 950/1450 (1.05V)| External Sony BD5500S Bluray | Windows 7 | 240W + 9 cell | Bigfoot 1103 | USB 3.0 |

Re: “C90S Unleashed” by Angel Marinov
Hi,
Thanks for your answers and i'm glad that my english is understandable.
After reading you, i think i'll buy a E7500, i've already the 1002a bios version on my laptop and the 4 GB of ram. (Or why not the E7600 ? you speak about the multiplicator that can't be a decimal one but a 7600 with the coefficient of a 7500 will be less hot no?)
I don't know exactly what are the difference of performance between a 8600M GT and some other cards like the 9800M GTX, HD 3650 or HD 4670, i'll be thankful if you can help me with this, but for sure i'll not buy a MXM III card.

@Jonthekiller
Hey Jonthekiller,
The E7600 will not be recognized properly by BIOS. The E7500 is the best for me.
Regarding to the VGAs performance:
HD3650 DDR2 is a little bit faster than 8600M and ~ 15*C cooler
HD3470 DDR2 is ~ 30% slower than HD3650 DDR2 and ~ 7*C cooler
HD4670 DDR3 is more than 2 times faster than HD3650 DDR2 without overclocking
9600M GT DDR3 (overclocked) is ~ 2 times faster than HD3650 DDR2
The King of Interns is the HD4670 expert here and he knows better than me for the performance of 4670. If I recall properly his overclocked 4670 DDR3 was 3 times faster than my HD3650 DDR2. He was the owner of the fastest C90P system and knows many useful things. He is the King of the C90 too!

Thank you angel lol. I would say at best "was" king
Jonthekiller. The E7600 will behave like a E7500 if you don't run a program at startup to take it to it proper full multi. I recommend using throttlestop. you can set it up to start with windows and it will then automatically force the chip to use its full multi when needed. Also throttlestop allows you to do a number of other things including changing the vcore. Very helpful and crucial in lowering temps.
With Angel's ASME cooling mod your system will be purring. I would get the 4670 either variant if you want performance. Although the 1GB GDDR2 4670 will lose to the 9600M GT 512mb GDDR3 (especially OCed) in 3dmark6 scores and perhaps other benchmarks the newer 4670 will still perform as good and sometimes better in games as it is the newer card, while running cooler as it is a 55nm chip vs the 65nm on the 9600M GT.Alienware M15x | Intel i7 920XM | 1080p | 8GB G-Skill | Samsung 470 256GB + Hitachi 7k500 500GB | AMD 7970M @ 950/1450 (1.05V)| External Sony BD5500S Bluray | Windows 7 | 240W + 9 cell | Bigfoot 1103 | USB 3.0 |

Re: “C90S Unleashed” by Angel Marinov
What I am doing here?
I’m one of the NBR members who are here with its real names, photo, location and e-mail. I’m staying behind every my post at 100%. All information is authentic and unique because I’m the author of “C90S Unleashed” and its home web site. All analysis, developments, designs, draws, drafts, pictures, projects, implementations, ... , are my own work. So when I decided to share my work here on NBR all the links are coming from the only source in the world – my own web site dedicated to “C90S Unleashed” with all the data. This site doesn’t advertizing anything and never will. Manufactures, producers and managers know what I’m talking about.
The mission on the “C90S Unleashed” is stated clearly at the beginning:
The idea of all my replies and posts is to be useful as far as I can to everyone, offering my knowledge and free quality help which is difficult to be received even in business institutions and corporations. One of my goals was to keep the posts clean, easy for reading and with useful content. That’s why I never used the right of a signature and they have contained a lot of links to many companies and their products in US, UK, China and Australia. The most valuable links for me were these to the physics and mathematics sites and topics that help us to understand most of the processes in our environment, life and technologies.
So the forum rules are for everyone and I respect that! It seems to be that my presence here was a “precedent”. I don’t like to be “precedent”!
Until now I was happy here on NBR because I was able to express myself and to communicate freely thanks to the links, pictures and recently of the video links.
I would like to thanks NBR and NBR’s members.
The good words that I’ve received from You were all I need!
My decision is to stop my activity.
Thanks again to all!
Good luck!
Angel Marinov
