Re: ASUS N71JQ Owners Lounge
Are you sure you don't have ATI powerplay set to "Maximize battery life" ? That downclocks the GPU clock speeds so would result in a lower score.
Normal 3DMark for this computer, which 4 Gb RAM and stock GPU settings (650/800) is indeed a little over 8k.
You can reach 10k if you don't mind your system crashing every 5 mins

So...it's me again...no one responded to my lasts posts...but anyway...here's another problem: i have the n71jq ty023v...and whenever i try scanning with kaspersky i get a bsod with ntfs.sys something...this started happening yesterday...there was no problem before...i have the 10.8 catalyst if that helps with something...the older problems that i had hadn't manifested themselves again but who knows...

Re: ASUS N71JQ Owners Lounge
I ran the 3dmark 06 on mine and my score is 8010.
So it seems there is something wrong in your case.
Did you check if the Power4Gear is set to maximum performace mode?
If the problem is happening only with the Kaspersky then it could be that something is wrong with this security suite.
Maybe try reinstall Kaspersky.Last edited by Turbogear; 7th November 2010 at 02:36 PM.

Re: ASUS N71JQ Owners Lounge
Hi, thanks for running the test and for answering!
I am not using Power4Gear, my Power Option is set to Balanced now (windows controlled setting), but I tried to run the test with set to High Performance (also windows controlled) and the score was the same!
I am not sure what is wrong with my notebook. Your RAM is faster, your hdd is also faster (7200rpm), but the difference in score is really huge!
Did you run the test with 3dmark settings (resolution) set to default?
Also, did you disable your anti-virus and other programs running in the background and restart your pc before running the test?
It is advised to do that before running the test in order to get the higher score... I did all that and I couldn't get more than 7000 after all...
Also, let me ask you what was your CPU score and what was your FPS during the CPU test??!
My CPU score was the lowest, and my FPS was 0 or 1 during the CPU test!
My cpu score is 1340...
I downloaded GPU-Z and my GPU clocks are as you mentioned, 650/800MHz! CPU state is set to 100%, yes.

ATI Crossfire is Disabled, is this OK?!
I am really not sure what is wrong with my system, because it is working really good, I mean fast and stable!
Only one thing though, I installed ATT (Ati Tray Tool) in order to monitor CPU/GPU temps while playing games, but the moment I run ATT I get a BSOD!!
EDIT:

My last benchmark!
Turbogear, what OS are you using? I use Windows7 64bit.Last edited by max 0401; 7th November 2010 at 06:32 PM.

@max 0401
Your GPU score is ok, but your CPU score should be about 2900 or more. Make sure you are not running any other applications that can use your CPU power while youre benchmarking.

Re: ASUS N71JQ Owners Lounge
So it seems like no-one has tried to see if WOL works via the BIOS?

Re: ASUS N71JQ Owners Lounge
I did not disable my antivirus (Zonealarm Extreme Security Suite) during the benchmark and I did restart the system before the benchmark.
All the background processes that are usually running on my system were still active, but I did not run any other programs during the benchmarking.
The operating system that I am using is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
Here are results as they were displayed by 3DMark 06 Basic Edition (Build 1.2.0):
3DMark Score 8010
SM 2.0 Score 2902
SM 3.0 Score 3611
CPU Score 2937
OS Windows 7
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz
CPU Speed 1596 MHz
GPU ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730
Memory 8192 MB
Sorry I cannot help you on this. I never tried this feature on my machine.ASUS N71JQ-A1 (i7-720QM, 8GB DDR3-1333 RAM, ATI 5730 1GB, Seagate 500GB Momentus XT and Seagate 500GB HDDs @ 7200rpm, Sandisk Ultra II SDHC 16GB card for backup,Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200)
