Well, since you ordered yours with the Diamond thermal compound, they'll need to open yours up and apply it. Then think of all the people before you that wanted SSD's, upgraded thermal compound, etc. You'd hope it would just one extra day before it ships. But, who knows.

Other than the extended warranty, I just left it stock. That's the best chance to get yours out the same day it arrives really. Upgrade the thermal compound at home, buy a cheaper SSD online, and get your lappy earlier.

Yes but people were saying something about lose of warranty if you apply thermal compound at home. They are resellers allow to do it but we are not. So I decided to have them do it for me and no chance to lose warranty!

Just transferring over to THIS thread does make the G73's arrival seem a little more real...although I've elected to stick with the -A1 (plan to use the BD) and will suffer thru a few more (or hopefully, less) days of waiting with my fellow A1ers (euisungkim comes to mind )

And, many thanks to Viscious for capturing and transporting all the G73 info over to the first page.

Q: If I am not planning to test the new machine to its limits (or perhaps beyond and melt something one would rather not have melted ), is there a test or bundle you recommend running to test the machine for nominal operation/performance parameters? (This would be in lieu of simply running standard applications/games to see if they more or less work properly.) Hope that makes some sense to you; I'm in new territory here.

Happy,

Furmark and 3dmark vantage will put a hard press on your cpu and gpu to make sure everything is working well (no flickering/stuttering/throttling).

Everest will make sure your temps are within normal params..

Yeah first we need to find a temperature monitor program that works, its a new chipset and so existing ones may not work with it or work correctly. Once we have that there are many tests you can use to test the machine for stability.

CPU Testing:
Moderate - Large WPrime test
Insane - OCCT

GPU Testing:
Moderate - 3dmark09 Vantage
Insane - Furmark

Ram Testing:
Memtest85+

HDD Testing:
HD Tune Pro

Just a basic starter kit there
