Attached is a picture of it for anyone that needs to know. Hopefully this is of help to someone.
Ah thanks, good to know. Then the one on the Asus eStore should be a perfect match.

Says that's for the G72gx....I assume that's what you have?

Yes, I have both. A G73jh-X1 and a G72-RBBX05. Both AC adapters are the same model number.

That's a great price. I may pick an extra one up...

Too bad the HD caddy isn't compatible as well.

Honestly, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to tell any difference with the tray closed. With it open only the different shapes is apparent.

All I had to do was pop off the bottom (2 screws) and remove the plate. Then removed one screw holding in the DVD-ROM, remove the small bracket (2 screws) and put it on the BD-ROM. Then it was a simple matter of removing the bezel and snapping it on the other and putting everything back together. Took me a bit longer because I couldn't find my laptop screwdriver set anywhere and had to use regular ones. Got a look at the ram and caddy while I was in there.

*edit* Oh- batt life is going to be a little over an hour. Playing that BD really killed it quickly though. In fact, I just got a warning for low batt.
Cool, I adjusted the brightness level on your 4th pic and I can see the eject button looks nice. This really surprises me since it looks like the button on the Sony isn't as wide (comparing its edge to where the manual eject hole is) and it seems a little taller (using Newegg pics on the X1 and Sony for comparison), but there you have it, all looking good.

Thanks again.

Indeed, a BR will take some cpu/gpu work. It's king of inbetween looking at the internets and playing Crysis as far as puter power imo.

Q
I don't know how to do the 1core/2.8ghz thing. Do tell...

So far, I have only used the turbo button to get 1.7ghz, and used AMD GPU Clock Tool. Just have to upload the pics, but here are the numbers...

1. Stock, no turbo
Vantage = 8047
CPU Score =10887
GPU Score= 7403

2. Stock, Turbo enabled
Vantage = 8049
CPU Score = 10657
GPU Score = 7442

AMD GPU Tool
Set to 799.99/1100
Vantage = 8783
CPU Score = 10577
GPU Score = 8313

Hi All! Just returned my Dell Studio XPS 1645 due to the infamous throttling problem... Really really tempted by the G73 but can someone comment on the Build Quality and Cooling Efficiency of this machine? Dare not bite the bullet before I get this clarified... Performance wise I think the benchmarks says it all...

Thanks in advance!

I haven't been able to play with the BIOS myself, but I did see a "turbo mode" in there for enable/disable from Kens video and this is what I figure the i7 turbo mode is compared to the button on the left which is what Vicious was playing with I think. How the mobile i7 turbo mode works is this:

http://hothardware.com/Articles/Inte...Review/?page=3

I'm still not totally sure what this Asus turbo mode is that bumps it 50-100MHz giving you the 1.7GHz across all 4 cores.

Q

Edit: Just looked at Kens video again and it is the Asus turbo (a.k.a. Easy Over Clock) in the BIOS option. Now I wonder how the i7 turbo is supposed to work. Oh well, I'm a day away from getting into it myself, but I can see that lappyland is seriously neutered from deskyland.
