Re: * Asus N61JQ Owners Lounge *
Is this laptop limited to 1366x768 resolution by the screen itself or the video card. Could you replace this screen with a screen from another ASUS laptop with 1600 x 900 resolution and it work?

@ Risco : so how are you calibrating your monitor now? I just got my N61JQ-A1 and the blue tint is quite obvious. Do you still recommend using your old post?

sm0k3d: it is the screen's limitation. The video card will happily output to higher res.
If you can find a 1600x900 screen that fits and installs with little or no major wiring work, that would be awesome.mobile: Asus N61JQ-A1

I have better results just using the ATI notebook panel properties. After adjusting the contrast it is now obvious too me the contrast ratio limitations are being covered up by Asus by using over high default lcd contrast settings. Unfortunately, the high contrast not only burns your eye, but makes everything look blue.

You can also fix the blue tint using CCC (as opposed to Win 7 color profiles). See my post here. According to Risco, the Desktop Properties settings do not stick when playing some games, but this is also the case with Win 7 profiles. I found that I could not fix the blue tint with the Desktops & Displays settings alone.

Steve, your profile is a vast improvement but still too contrasty for delicate work. See Black level - Lagom LCD test and White saturation - Lagom LCD test Under your profile, subtle shading is lost. I found an overall contrast of 92 adds a lot of fidelity in the bright white saturation without sacrificing much display brightness.
