It's all tounge in cheek. They have treated me well to. And a manager did give me an RMA to return my X1 when I complained about the warranty even though they only take DOA returns for computers. I just couldn't pull the trigger on returning this thing (seperation anxiety!). I was over this until I saw them listing a 2 year warranty now.

I don't understand what you mean by "power adapter throttling" so I am going to post some observations:

I have not used the system that heavy but, I have played WoW and Oblivion for around 5 continuous hours and while the system blew out some very hot air, the system was only warm to the touch. I am sure I dropped a few cores during that time. Power management was set to performance so power throttling was minimal. The power adpater didn't get any hotter either.

    Hope that helps a little.

Newegg is a great warehouse to order pieces-parts from. They have always been fairly good to me as long as everything was done online. They also have decent prices. They have a fantastic selection.

I have called them a couple of times and both times the person on the phone was irritated when they picked up the phone. One was pretty rude. I was only calling to find out how to get a receipt for the ADW on my N61. She came across like I was bothering her.

After coming to the forums and having personal assistance from PowerNotebooks and XoticPC while not even buying from them and finding out that I could have purchased the A1 for only $35 more with the customization options they provide, I don't think I will be getting another system from Newegg. Just pieces-parts.

We don't really hate Newegg here and some of it is playing around but, they are just an impersonal warehouse discussed in a forum full of people giving personal attention -- some of which are resellers. We also tease eachother the same way. ;-)

There's also a handy bit of free software here that will let you view all your BSOD logs from windows, without the need to disable automatic restart. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

I also second chiew, BSOD errors are commonly caused by hardware problems. If you have not installed any new drivers or devices and are not overclocking there is a good chance your notebook is faulty. Best to get it checked out now before you have it loaded with software and files.
Thanks for your help your, I will read through them and try to fix it.

I did temperature testing on my A1 in this post. I only ran the torture test for 30 minutes, but the temps seemed to reach steady state in only about 5 minutes. Temps were about 20 degrees C below junction temperature (100 C for the i7 720QM) without any extra cooling (notebook cooler), so it looks like there is no danger of throttling from heat. Regarding power, the TDP for the i7 is 45 W. The power adapter supplies max 90 W. You definitely will not draw 90 W from a CPU-crunching task, but I guess it's possible if you have lots of graphics going on. In my tests, CPU load was 100% (no GPU load), and there was no throttling.

No, SCREWegg gave me a REALLY hard time! Five years ago when I built my first desktop they were great, this go around complete opposite! BOO on them!

thanks, rep +1. how is its GPU power consumption? for some dell models, if power adapter is less than 120W, it will have throttling issue due to a 55W GPU power consumption.(from http://www.amd.com/uk/products/noteb...730-specs.aspx , it shows ATI 5730 TDP is 26W but i'm not sure if power consumption is different.)

I did the best I could right now. Below is a screen shot of the benchmark run results in Dirt 2 with all the setting on high at native resolution. It looks fantastic running on this thing.

Try recording onto an external hard drive or a separate hard drive to which would are using the game on. Its a technique film makers use with separating application from data as reading from both can slow down the video or editing feed.

i think it has been established already that the N61JQ-A1 does NOT throttle when connected to the AC Adaptor. However, it does seem to throttle a bit when on battery.
