SCII runs fluently in Ultra @1600x900 I play the beta on my G72 without any problems (I'd say 60 fps straight).

Has anyone had problems with audio when connecting to an LCD through HDMI? I've updated the Realtek audio drivers but get no audio through my TV while connected. I have three audio devices listed (laptop speakers, digital audio output, and HDMI audio output) but the HDMI and Digital audio doesn't work to provide sound through the TV when selected.

Awesome!

Didn't get in the Beta, but can't wait to get the game.

Has anyone else had problems with its GPU throttling when overclocked to stock settings?
I still haven't been able to fix that...

I just got Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Awesome game, runs great except my gpu temps are hitting 91-94 degrees. This is without overclocking. I have never had temps this high before and I don't want to melt my gpu. I'm currently using this driver:

NVIDIA Geforce/Ion/Quadro 198.05 WHQL Drivers (MS Update)

Could it be only this game that loads my gpu? I'm thinking about getting a Cryo NXVT cooler, how much would it cool it down? Suggestions?

Hello all,

I purchased this laptop primarily for SC2 and figured it would handle that game no problem. Unfortunately, whenever I run on high or ultra settings, I run into a wall of Lag and I'm forced to downgrade to low. This happens mostly during single player but at times it has happened to me on multiplayer as well. I'm not ultra savy with computers so I don't know what the problem is or how to diagnose it. I DO know that my temps seem to be running in line with the original posters so I don't think thats the problem. One thing I've noticed, when I start up my machine it asks me to download the updated bios which I do, but I guess it doesn't stick. Anyways, I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what I might be able to do to fix it....

Thanks everyone!

I ran mine on a similar laptop, with c2d and GTX260m and i can run ultra but on 1366x768, with 1600x900 im not 100% sure an underclock GTX260m can handle ultra. You might wanna try different settings.

Im not sure what drivers you runing, but the original drivers and 18x.xx had some issues with SC2, try runing at least 198.05 (link on my sig) or newer, if you are comfortable with beta drivers you can try the latest, VERDE NOTEBOOK RELEASE 260, i like more 198.05 as they work well with Asus GTX260m as its very picky with downclocking on 2d, but you should try different drivers and see what works better for you. Remember to uninstall the others before you install new drivers.

You probably have the Asus update utility still installed (i unistalled it the first day as its unreliable), if you really want to flash you bios then go with the USB, its pretty simple and more reliable than the Asus win utility. Although if you dont have any problems with your computer there is not much reason to do it, i personally like to have the latest update always, but its risky when you dont need anything to gain.

My BB version worked great. I swapped it for an A1 with the Q9000 CPU and it chokes within 5 mins of starting SC2. Turns out it's heat related. The 260M in mine idles at 75-79C and jumps to more than 100C within 5-8 mins of playing SC2.

I just dropped it off at a local ASUS repair shop under warranty. We'll see what they replace or if they just re-paste. I told them I would pay extra to put the diamond paste on. I'll know if it's fixed by Thursday. Even my son can play SC2 on med with his G50VT from BB.

Cheers,

The fan on my G72GX is running really loud and it won't stop running.

I have no idea what the problem is and where to even start. I cleaned the dust off the fan and that was it.

It's really annoying.

Sounds like it's too hot. Get gpu-z and check your temps. The repair shop said my fan was clogged with dust they could only get at by taking the fan apart. Also the thermal paste dried up.

Good luck.

Cheers,
