Re: G51J-A1 Owners Lounge
Thanks for the run, thats pretty much even results with me, although some users like Forge do get better temps, they also moded more (fake vent and drilled the backplate), so i would say the blocks are giving you the same benefits as they given me, before i passed to 92C on the same test you ran, not saying its perfect, just same as me.

Re: G51J-A1 Owners Lounge
Hey people I'm new here. Thanks for the welcome! ;-)
Got my G51J-A1 a couple of weeks ago. Love the laptop but am wondering if anyone has experienced their system freezing when taking a snapshot using the Fireshot plugin in Firefox3.6b4?
This happened last week, and strangely started happening after installing the Razer Copperhead drivers. No BSOD, just complete non-responsiveness, frozen screen, and the fan starts up. Only way out is a hard reset. Same behaviour also happened when using Trillian Astra, every time one of my contacts came online or offline. Strange I know.
I had to restore the system to as new to stop this behaviour.
Then this morning I reinstalled the Razer Copperhead drivers and wooshka the same behaviour occurs again. Now even after uninstalling the drivers and a system restore it is still occuring.
Any ideas? I'm not sure what diagnostics to run to test this but the behaviour happens every time I take a snapshot. I've tried downgrading to Firefox 3.5 and the same thing happens.
Would love some ideas from you geniuses as I am but a mere mortal ...
Thanks!

Re: G51J-A1 Owners Lounge
Interestingly, it is actually the Creative Soundblaster drivers that were causing the problem. When taking a snapshot, Fireshot makes a 'camera shutter' sound, this is what was causing the lockup. Uninstalling Creative's drivers (and leaving the RealTek ones) has solved this problem, if anyone expriences this.
I have yet to reinstall the Copperhead drivers to completely rule them out, but the above fix has worked for some others too.

Re: G51J-A1 Owners Lounge
Don't need the mouse driver as it offer nothing more then the built in one .. games can remap buttons anyway.
No clue what asus was thinking with creative drivers on a realtek chip, should give an email to creative if asus licensed the usage or the sticker or not.
Should just get back the old realtek sound controlls like ac97 had.

Re: G51J-A1 Owners Lounge
I just uninstalled the Creative drivers as well.
The problem I was having was that unless I rebooted my laptop prior to starting up WoW (IE just using hibernate instead of shutting down completely at the end of the night) it would take a lot longer to display the login screen, take a lot longer to log in, and then when finally getting logged in I would have anywhere between 1-9 fps no matter where I was at. Also, looking at Task Manager it would show WoW as "not responding" every few seconds. I thought for sure it was a problem with going into hibernate....but it turns out it was likely the Creative Soundblaster drivers.
What I did to "test" to see if it worked was I uninstalled all the Creative drivers and then let it reboot. When I got back to my desktop I started WoW and let it run for a lil bit. Then I logged back off and put my laptop into hibernate. Then I woke it up and started up the game and it ran just fine. Then I logged off, hibernated again, woke, and then logged back in....and everything was just fine.
