Why aren't Asus laptops popular ?

What emporiumboutique said is correct. Popularity isn't always the case. Over the years I've owned two Toshiba notebooks, a Dell, and an Acer laptop, recently though I decided to purchase an ASUS notebook and so far it has impressed me in every aspect in comparison to all my previous machines.

Hi all ASUS M51Sn fans

I still have some small problems with mine, after I installed XP. First of all, I still can't get the Ethernet Controller driver to work. I've installed all the drives for the CD's that came with the notebook, and all the drivers that is listed on page 10 or 11 of this thread.

Also the HD Audio Bus controller is not installed and there is a Unknown Divece whice is missing a driver, and I have no Idea what it is. The last thing is that I'm getting this failure notice, when ever I reboot or start up my notebook that the "LMGRD has preformed an error and will be closed. There are some files that list the error information, but I'm not skilled enough to decifer it. there are these two

Fone_Bone, I might be able to help ({don't bet on it though) but I will not do the infamous amount of horiz scrolling that is needed to read your post. Please fix it

I've installed XP on my notebook. Don't care much for Vista. I have my WLAN up and running. No problem there, but to access my home network, I need to first connect through the LAN cable, but nothing happens when I plug it in. I can see on the Network places on my notebook, that the driver for the card itself is installed and working, but the Ethernet-controller is marked with a '!' so thats the problem. And I've been searhing the net for a driver, but noting seems to work.

Also, I have this unknown divice with the unit-id number: ACPI\IFX0102\4&3AA5AEAA&0

What driver do I need for this thing? Have tried some drivers, but none work.

Whats wrong with me? I used to be good at finding and solving driver problems

Heh actually you didn't but I edited it myself. The problem was in the long lines from the error report copy-paste (I broke two of them in several places, marked the places with ---)

oh, sorry... On my screen, it was OK, when I finished editing it...

Its funny though. This thread has somewhat stoped being a preformence review and just a long thread of troubleshooting and help But its nice to keep it all gathered here, so its easy to find for other people, if they end up in the same problems with this notebook...

I think it's actually turning into an owner's lounge. Which wouldn't be so bad, actually, having it all in one place. I might contact the OP and see if he agrees to change this from "review" to "review/owner's lounge".

Have you found a solution to my driver problems? Not that I want to be a bothersome bastared or anyting
