It seems like the problem lies under hibernation as you were able to reproduce it multiple times, maybe you can try disabling hibernate and just have the screen/HDD turn off after like 15min and see if you still get the error after few days usage.

Edit: What's your BIOS version by the way? Is it later than 204?

    I flashed it when i reformatted, 208.

It still does it at other times, but it seems like hibernate is one time when I can force it to occur.

I see, from what you have posted it seems like the time it occurs is when the laptop wakes up from hibernation and when playing games.

You mentioned in the 1st post that you didn't install optional drivers, was intel rapid storage technology one of them? Also any specific reason why you didn't install Power4Gear?

Well the version of P4G on the asus driver page doesn't work... it says there is a compatbility issue, so I downloaded a newer version that someone had used on a G73 with success, and it killed the laptops performance to the point where opening a web browser would freeze the computer and the window would sit at "not responding" for 5-10 seconds.... it became extremely irritating..

According to the fresh format thread you need P4G to use turbo boost, however it works fine without it... so I see no reason to have it running

You mean TwinTurbo (Boosts BCLK(FSB) from 133MHz to 142MHz) or the intel Turbo Boost (Boosts multiplier)? Intel Turbo Boost doesn't need P4G as it's controlled by the CPU itself, however on the G73JH/JW series, to activate TwinTurbo you need to install P4G. I don't own a G51JX so I'm not sure if G51JX has TwinTurbo feature as well.

And yes, using a version of the P4G that's not designed for your system could result in constant stuttering during normal use.

So, is the Intel Rapid storage technology also installed?

    Yes, IRST is installed.
    g51jx only supports Turbo.

    I see.

Can't really figure out where the issue is:

    1. It 100% happens when woke up from hibernate
    2. Happens when playing games
    3. Still happens when hibernate is disabled
    4. IRST is installed
    5. Chipset driver updated to the latest for HM55
    6. PCIe root updated individually
    7. Error can still be reproduced across different GPU drivers

But you didn't install P4G for G51JX, see if you still can reproduce the error by installing the one that's writen for G51JX.

I can't, the message comes up when I click on the setup file saying my computer doesn't meet the required specs.... I think asus put the 32-bit version of P4G under 64.. and I cant find the 64 bit version of the generation one i7 family

And yea ATK needs to be installed, you can also try G60JX's P4G (Almost the same spec as G51JX but 16"), it's slightly newer than G51JX's P4G, V1.1.25.
