G73jw no power
I have a g73jw that is 17 months old. I never used it for gaming just as a desktop replacement. I was using it last week when it completely shut down. No lights nothing. I did remove the battery and power adapter and held the power button to try a reset and still nothing.
The green light on the power adapter stays on until you plug it into the laptop. This tells me there is a short some ware. Is this possibly a mother board issue?
I did notice that a few days before this happened the screen would flicker on low brightness and the fan would come on more often.
I think this is a heat issue and that something died on the mother board. Any idea what the cost would be to replace the motherboard if that is the case. This unit is possibly out of warranty.

Anyway you can try another brick fella? It could be the cable from the brick into the laptop otherwise as you mention a short somewhere or a piece of hardware has gone rusty. Without sending it in it is very difficult to diagnose without getting inside, care for a disassembly attempt?

Re: G73jw no power
thanks for getting back to me yiddo,
I do not have another adapter. But because of the flicker in the screen and the fan coming on a lot more i suspect a capacitor some ware was letting go resulting in a short. I think it would be on the mother board itself.
I afraid i don't have the stones to try this fix myself. I saw a RMA example on this web site that showed a $55 hr shop rate and a motherboard at $95. I know these are just examples but just curious if anyone else had this issue.
