Gt650m vs 5870m
Been out of the loop for a bit.
Does the mobility 5870m hold a candle to the new nvidia 650's like seen in the new macbook pros?
Thanks all

Re: Gt650m vs 5870m
The 650M is just a 660M which is lower clocked no difference in the chip.
The 5870M still holds its own but sits alongside the 560M it will not beat a 660M at stock, not to mention newer architecture, smaller die, less heat, less power consumption.
Cannot say the same for Macbook's though this is second post about Apple on here today and honestly people if you want to game stay away from Shhhnapple.

Re: Gt650m vs 5870m
There is another thread around here regarding the two GPUs. Given Apple's tendency to downclock their hardware, I wouldn't consider the GT 650M GDDR5 to be better than the HD 5870 GDDR5. Of course, if the memory is different, then it would also make a significant difference.

Re: Gt650m vs 5870m
GDDR5 650M will be better than a 5870M, GDDR3 will not as it will only have 28GB/s bandwidth.

Re: Gt650m vs 5870m
It's supposedly GDDR5, but likely underclocked. Apple underclocks their CPU and GPU, and fan noise is still obnoxious.

G75 with a GTX670m/660m over any macbook for gaming any day.
PS. Those Clevo custom laptops are beasts. Crossing fingers for a MSI G series with a 7970m/680m soon. Would love to see a G75 with something stronger of a video card, but don't think it will happen.Asus G74SX-3DE Core i7-2630QM 2.00Hz Processor | NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560m 3Gb 900Mhz/1800Mhz/1600Mhz | 17.3" Full HD+ 1920x1080 120Hz | Kingston HyperX 120Gb + WD Scorpio Black 750GB 7200rpmHDD | 12 Gb Samsung 1333 MHz | Win 7 Professional
