Default Calling diablo 3 review from all asus users. I have a weird slow mo walk!

    Hi

I am using a g51vx-rx05 with cpu upgraded to 2.8 Ghz. GPU: gtx 260m.
    everything running at stock clock.

I am able to run diablo 3 smooth overall on highest settings, EXCEPT when I have everything on high and 1366x768, the screen would slow mo lag every 2 seconds(most significant when im walking).

I tried to turn down the textures details, shadows and everything to the right of the display menu. but the slow mo lag didn't seem to go away (it didn't lag as long I think).

the second experiment i did was turning everything else back to high , but turned the resolution down to 1024x 768 or 800x600 . and the lag decreased siginificantly.
(all FPS are maxed to 200)

But what I don't understand is that, my friend who has a macbook pro ran the game on highest setting with no problem at all, after looking up the spec for the latest macbook pro I have concluded that asus g51vx definitely has a better gaming spec so there's no way he's not experiencing what I am experiencing if it is hardware problems:

so: does anyone know what is going on ? Or do you guys have the same problem as well?

when I say lag it is like : smooth walking ..... lag walk.....smooth walking....lag walk....

This could be caused by several reasons.
    Here some possibilities:
    - CPU to hot - clocking down (check with HWinfo32)
    - GPU to hot - clocking down (check with HWinfo32)
    - old Nvidia drivers
    - put max FPS to 60 or 70, whichever your screen is able to do (or 120 in case of 3D capability), everything else is just heating up your system more while not providing anything good for you
    - close other programs, mostly browsers and video players!
    - how much RAM is in your system?
    - which Windows?

There's something strange with the optimization of Diablo 3 overall. I'm playing it smoothly on a i7 2600k + HD6950 desktop setup, and it's sometimes smoother with 50+ enemies around than it is running around in an empty area.

I also tried it out on my G75, and it got this slow mo/choppy behavior, but only when I used the laptop's battery. Plugging it in the wall socket made the game run smoothly again. This is of course not optimal behavior, but I imagine a lot of people don't buy gaming laptops to play on the bus.

I have 4 ram in my systme, and I tried with or without the browser and it didn't help.

I'm going to try the max fps thing(i do have them on 200).

Also, I should really mention that...this lag happens very often and you can tell it is lagging by the way smoke/water falls are moving (smooth...lag smotth lag...) but sometimes I would be in the same area but the smoke/water fall are moving completely smooth and doesn't lag up until 5-10 minutes later.

    Thank you for answering me!!!

I've had similar issues with my g51vx. What I do is play with the Max fps setting as well. When trying different resolutions I change the Max fps from 61,62,63 and 64. Generally one of these sync up with my resolution and it becomes very smooth and even. Works for me, give it a try!

I know right?? it's like, sometimes it lags like that but sometimes it doesn't right? and it is like smooth...lag smooth ... lag right?

Do you think it would help if I simply uncheck the max fps box? will that let the game runs at whatever fps it is capable of?

And was it the same for you that texture details didn't help as much as lowering resolutions?

Try unchecking the maxfps box but the method I use really worked for me so maybe try both. I think it might have something to do with having the correct maxfps for your resolution. When I'm in 1280x720 or 1366x768 I use 63maxfps. When playing intensive multiplayer in lower resolutions I use 61 or 62 maxfps. Seems to work for me.

what lower resolutions do you use? I think you should be fine with 1366x768 even with 4 players.

but thanks, Ima set it to 63 maxfps and see how it goes.

I just tried using max 61-63 fps, it worked well when single player, but when i had 4 players the problem shown up again bummer

Please check your temperatures. See my first post for more info.
Have you tried the "low fx" option in Diablo3?
