I bought a G75VW-DS71
It arrived with a half-closed case, very loose screen bezel (plastic moulded incorrectly), broken sound, totally broken video and no backlight
In other words completely useless
Spoke to Asus support who were very familiar with this problem ... I was not the first ...
It seems that a bad batch was fixed by hand and then sent straight to distribution with no testing ...
Other rumours include G75 production temporarily ceased due to quality issues.
On the ROG forums every second or third posting is a serious problem, some examples:
660m gpu usage and framerate fluctuations
ROG G75V - 660M does not spool up
Ok seriously, what is the double beep!
My new G75V and it's speed
Would like some opinions, not sure if keeping G75
On my 3rd G75 :(
Asus G75 network adapter problem; can't connect to wifi.
Asus G75VW - Black screen on boot up
Live update killed my USB ports
Network adapter gets disabled when using HDMI port
Asus G55VW-DS71 Faulty or Fine?
G75 GPU going to hot - Fan not working
Red lines across the screen, now the G75 is dead
G75VW Best Buy freeze up issues
ASUS G75 no longer in production?
And here is a typical experience (from another forum user)
On my 3rd G75 :(
Well so far this is my 3rd G75.....The first one the border around the screen was completely popped off, the 2nd G75 the subwoofer seemed like it was blown. Now im on my 3rd G75 and yesterday when i opened it the bottom panel to get to the internals was screwed in but half of it was popped off and im missing one of the rubber piece on the bottom......... Awesome QA Asus lol. I called asus to see if they would ship me ONE rubber piece just so i can put it on and thats it, but they told me that i would have to send in the entire computer.....So the guy gave me a website us.estore.asus.com which does not have the part, so that was a total waste of time.
Now i dont know what to do, if i spend $1250 of my hard earned cash im expecting a product to be assembled correctly, especially a "gaming" laptop. I dont know if i should go back to best buy and exhange it again and open the new one right in front of them.
So I am posting this to help any other potential ASUS "customers" from experiencing the same pain and hassle.
