I have an out of warranty G73JH-BST7 that upon powering on, will not post video or anything. I don't hear any fans spinning up, and the keyboard lights up for about 2 seconds, then goes off. The screen never turns on. There are no beeps or other sounds.

Any advice on what to do to fix it? I'm afraid it's a dead video card. If so, where can I get a new one?

I'm the OP, don't know what the heck happened here.

Try taking out the RAM and booting with only one stick at a time, it could be a faulty module.

Also try booting without the battery, and remove the AC adapter for 30+ seconds to reset the EC.

I had the EXACT same problem hit me last night.

Yesterday I put a bluray in that had a language start menu. The laptop crashed after that menu came up (the movie was Up!). I was using Corel WinDVD pro 11, with Slysoft AnyDVD. I didn't notice that the laptop had crashed and I put in the HDMI cable. My computer rarely crashes, and I've watched plenty of blurays on it.

I forced power-off the computer and when I tried to boot it back up it would not post. All lights come on (power buttons, underscreen glow, numpad, capslock) and the laptop sits quietly without posting. After 10 seconds both fans engage to maximum. Nothing else happens.

I tried to boot the laptop without the hard drives. I took the bluray player out. I took out the RAM one by one. Booted on AC-only, battery only. I took the laptop apart and looked for signs of scorching. I took out the last piece of inaccessible RAM and tried with a different stick. All of these ended up with the same result, dead laptop.

Anyone out there have this happen to them as well?

    Hey Gentoo,
I saw a few forum posts here and in the RoG forum that I think we're the first to have posted this problem.
This guy had black screen, and he seems to be inferring that windows may have been still booting. Resolved by removing mobo battery and letting it drain out (and possibly reseating and repasting the CPU and GPU). http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...Black-screen-(

There was another guy (18 months into a brick on this forum) that had the same problem, but got a full refund from his vendor. So he didn't do any follow-up except for drinking some spiked iced tea.

Edit: Removed questions that have already been answered in original post.

no sounds at all, no POST, no beeps, no fans, nothing other than the blue power lights.
