Default Does this call for a repaste?

    Hi guys,

Recently I noticed that my G73Jh doesn't perform as well as it used to. In fact, I am currently playing Battlefield 3 on the low video setting and are still seeing stuttering and drops in FPS sometimes. I also noticed that my laptop isn't even running games like Assassin's Creed I perfectly at all in certain areas, and I used to be able to run Dead Rising 2: Off the Record fine, but now when I tried to play it then it stutters so badly that its unplayable.

I have been clearing out my vent monthly, updating all my drivers, and it seems that my laptop idles at around 61~65 C at any giving time. So do you guys think that doing a repaste might cure this problem?

The main reason why I am asking because I have had this laptop for more than a year at least (can't really recall the exact number) and have never done a repaste on it before.

Your idle speed is on the high side (mine stays at less than 50 C). Do you have any software installed to monitor temps in game? If you are below 100 I do not think repaste will solve this. I would run HWiNFO64 Download and use the temp logging option while gaming.
Also if you have not already double check that your power plan on AC is set to max perf as well as CCC.
As a last resort you could roll back your video driver to an earlier version.
I recently went back to 11.2 due some minor issues with 12.4 and as Srikar states if it ain't ...
The web cam maybe a software issue: Asus G73JH driver disc see post 13 by Tijo - he is the man

Okay, what's a good driver to roll back into? I am going to do some logging after I go to sleep, but right now its the GPU temperature on idle is 64-66C for GPU Thermal Diode, 64-65C for TS0, 62C for TS1, 60C for TS2.

Yeah, you need to check your temps when playing games, not when idling. My GPU (and CPU) are idling ridiculously high right now as Ineed to clean the vents and I live in Texas, but I don't have any problems with games right now.

As for drivers, I'm of the mindset that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I'm still using 11.3 and almost every game runs great. The ones that don't are graphic benchmark games or are poorly optimized (I'm looking at you, LA Noire).

Guys, another problem popped up. It seems like my computer no longer recognize my webcam. Its not popping up in my device manager and my driver won't install. The thing was that it was working fine just a couple hours earlier.

P.S. I still haven't gotten around to test my temperature while gaming. I will try to get that around later today.

Edit: Wow, long overdue. But I spent about an hour playing Arma 2 and the max temperature is about 70C.

To roll back my video card driver I just have to do it under device manager right?
