Default Did my graphics card overheat?

Hi everyone, this is my first post so please forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

A few days ago the weather was very warm here, and while I was gaming on my G73-SW and the graphics card temperature got up to 90 degrees. Normally, it only gets up to ~82.

I noticed some slowdown and framerate issues while gaming today, and I'm worried that the graphics card may have been damaged. How can I tell? Am I just paranoid?

I'm not that tech savvy so I haven't overclocked anything or done anything to the laptop.

    Thanks!

They seemed normal, my last SC2 match was around 82-84.

Starcraft II doesn't use the GPU as much as most games. You'll know if your GPU overheats because your computer will shutdown. You probably need to clean out the vents as dust tends to clog up there which causes temperatures to rise.

I doubt it would be damaged. Usually if the GPU overheats to a certain degree the laptop would shutdown itself as a measure to protect itself. Furthermore, although each graphics card is different, usually its too hot when it goes over 100c. I would go with Srikar's suggestion and clean the fans with duster air and if it doesn't approve maybe look into a new paste job. Also, keep in mind that with the G73 series you'd want to keep the lid open if running on a separate monitor and keyboard set-up. The laptop breaths through the top beside the keyboard, so blocking it can lead to overheating.

Thanks for the replies guys. So is the framerate issue just a coincidence? I'm seeing some stuttering

    Definitely being paranoid.

My SW frequently goes up to 90 degrees while playing demanding games whilst overclocked. Some would tell you that those are on the high side - and they are - but they certainly aren't damaging. As far as I'm concerned, 100+ degrees/thermal shutdown is when you should be worried as far as the GPU goes.

Ok thanks, I guess the problem lies somewhere else!

Sorry for the double post, but would a GPU repaste be helpful, or my temps not warrant a need for a repaste? I've only had my G73 since September of last year.

We need your temps during gaming, why won't you provide them?!

He just did some gayming - the game was SC2. I think you want Playground 3, The Twitcher 2, Skyrum and Cowdoodey: Modern Wellfare 3 (it's very demanding) temps.
