G53JW-A1 won't recognize new RAM
well i bought this laptop a while ago (July 2011) while i was on a trip to the US.
i bought an extra 2GB Samsung 1333Mhz CL9 non-ECC stick with it which the shop workers told me would fit in perfectly. ive installed it just now, so i should have 8GB but windows and bios wont recognize it even though its there!
installed it in the easy to reach slot just down the keyboard if it matters.
now what i was thinking of trying is to switch it with one of the working default installed ones (one of the three that came with the laptop)
1.why do u think it fails to recognize the newly installed stick?
2.what can i do to make it work?
3.would u suggest for me to check the stick in another slot?
4.my default sticks are PC3-10700 according to Speccy. now i know 10600 is 1333Mhz, would 10700 be diff or just close enough? or even the same as 10600?Last edited by AttractiveSnail; 6th January 2012 at 12:12 AM.

Re: G53JW-A1 ram upgrade
Try swapping the SODIMMs, put one you know is recognized in the slot where the samsung was. Check if it is recognized or not. If the computer recognizes it, try the samsung in the slot you just freed. If the Samsung SODIMM isn't recognized, then that means that it's either a faulty module or it isn't playing nice with your other RAM.

Re: G53JW-A1 ram upgrade
There is an order in which these must be installed, download the manual from asustec for your model, then follow instructions.

Re: G53JW-A1 ram upgrade
The RAM slots should be populated in this order: 1, 2, 3, 4
Also, you should generally use the same make and type of memory to avoid conflicts, including memory timings and speed rating.
