Anyone Good at taking laptops apart??? G60Jx
I have an Asus G60JX. Been wanting to repaste it. I don't have the godly ICD7 but i have some AS5. I figured AS5 is miles ahead of the stock paste.
Only problem im running into is how to get the heat sink assembly off and out... I Know how to paste, just not how to take the damn thing apart without.
Here are some pics. Perhaps someone could tell me what to do and where?

What is that big silver looking thing over the GPU anyway?
So anyone know how to take that thing apart?Asus G60JX: Intel i5 430m @ 2.27Ghz Turboboost up to 2.53ghz

Re: Anyone Good at taking laptops apart???
The big silver thing is a heat sink bro..
Dont have the laptop but loiks like you need to unscrew the fan first of course
And then the rest of the screws touching the heat sink and pipe including the cpu ones, but not the one holding the cpu in

Yeah, getting this out is a bit of a pain. You've got to put a little more pressure on things than I was comfortable with.
Courtesy of Chastity, all your g73 JH/JW driver needs here.

Re: Anyone Good at taking laptops apart???
There doesn't seem to be any straight up G60Jx disassembly guides (the J is the key...the Vx got all the attention lol)
I guess im just stuck at the "How do i get underneath the silver heatsink plate to get to the gpu"
Will Half of the entire copper assembly come off in half? like this?

Here is a pic of the whole thing together when someone took theirs apart. How do the two pieces attach together?

Re: Anyone Good at taking laptops apart???
They don't exactly attach together. I have the same heatsink and I have removed the cpu par only and left the gpu part alone.

Re: Anyone Good at taking laptops apart???
Oh okay. Sorry for the novice questions, i just don't want to take apart the only comp i have and then get stuck! lol
So they are just sitting next to each other? And then when i put it back together they just sit real close?
And what's the little copper strip on the black part? If you guys know what im talking about lolAsus G60JX: Intel i5 430m @ 2.27Ghz Turboboost up to 2.53ghz

Re: Anyone Good at taking laptops apart??? G60Jx
I think by the back part you are referring to some tape that binds the radiator fins to the vent area of the chassis.
Just be very careful with the removal of the heatpipe - the copper tubing contains a small amount of vapor, and if you bend it too far it will crack open (or start to leak slowly) and ruin the cooling system.Sent from my immobile device using Taparock for abax

See my post directly above yours. It's just tape.
